@Phil Lilley, I like to look of those. I know one of the problems you mentioned was the weight with the water. Maybe if you created the longer walls as a v, with the handle walls staying the same for support, it would serve to hold less water, and orient the fish to a better photo opportunity. Just a thought.

While I'm a firm believer in DIY, I also know experience has its price. I've spent way more on many projects, time and money both, than to pay someone who knew what they were doing. And, if we all were self sufficient, how would anyone make money?

Used to find the shells all the time as a kid. They kind of had a way of making me frightened. Not sure why. I would pull them off of whatever they were attached to, but still was uneasy about them. Neat to see the change.

The mess is outrageous. I still need to wash my boat from the slime it got from the carp that jumped in. Leaves a silvery mess similar to a slug or snail trail. But on a massive scale.

I've strongly considered taking up bow fishing, but then you have the carcasses to take care of. I don't have a garden that needs, or can handle such. So there is that dilemma.

I vote no, because my favorite fishing hole flat out stinks now due to invading species. I seen plenty of fish, couldn't catch a single one. The asian carp are not shy. I bumped a few with my lures, they never flinched. I walked towards them while on shore, they didnt care. I was not a happy person this evening. Sorry rant over.

So, maybe what you are really asking, or should be, is what are the similarities of the points you are working. If you can find the common denominator(s) of them, you will find it elsewhere.

I only mentioned having 5 pair because, sometimes I take my vest it has clippers, sometimes I take my tackle bag, it has clippers, sometimes I take just a tray, some have clippers, etc. I haven't had any scissors or sheers that have quit working. But then again, I don't fish as often as many.

All great ideas. I switched bout 2-3 years ago. Best and worst decision I've made. I decided I don't want to use a leader. I stand by that. I don't fish nearly as often as much as some, so I cant tell you if that has made me lose more fish or not. Just chiming in to warn you of some things. *You can no longer "cut" your line with your teeth. *You will need about 5 pairs of braid scissors. You will find ALL of your nail clippers that you couldn't find, when you used your teeth to cut line. They work, but very inefficiently. *After catching a good fighter, or tough snag, your line may be sinched into the rest of the line. You will understand why the pros peel line after each cast. This often is the reason for backlashes on my spinning reels (whole nother rant of love/hate). *I have really decided the supplied hooks are good enough for most baits. I want them to bend or break. I get more snags in and out of the water, and the braid does not break off nearly as easily as mono. I have bent many more hooks than ever before. But I also save many more lures. Talking same test. I don't lake fish much. Creeks and rivers are my desire. *Braid absorbs water. This doesn't much matter in the summer and fall, but cool spring and cold winter days, my hands go numb quicker because the braid flings some water on my hands each cast or retrieve. *I needed to learn new knots. Probably should have known then before, but braid expedited the need. I know that sounds like a lot of reasons to not use braid, but at the same time, I am satisfied with it. *I can cast longer distances than with my P-Line CXX. *The casts feel much smoother as the braid is cast through the rod. *I t gives me more reasons to go out, because I have to "make sure" the newly spooled reel is ready for the next trip. *No memory on spinning reels. This was mentioned before, but I really like that factor. *I feel like I can pull harder against the snags to keep my lures. All in all, I love it as much as I hate it.

Funny topic, as I recently took pictures of this feral cat, and our "rescued" cat. Ours is the black and white one I swear she is many species in one. She hops like a rabbit, she has a mouse face, owl eyes.. cant think of others we've noticed. This other one from my mom's house is gray one. I think it has the face of a wolf or fox.

I agree with the last paragraph totally. But the $190k, that was a 1 time deal. Maybe that went to pay back for the costs of marketing the hunt. For the administrative costs of operating the lottery. While yes, it could pay for 3 agents, they would only be employed for 1 year. I chose not to participate. But I cant be upset about the money used. ( not saying you, or anyone else is). I believe we have it great in Missouri. We have many opportunities and the bear lottery is just another one. Really, when I think about it, I'm pretty happy it was $10.00. It sure gave most every one a fair shot at being able to hunt a bear! That is pretty cool. I've paid more for raffle tickets for less of an opportunity.

We had what we called milk duds. They grew on fences, and had a pod full of silky threads. Other than that we threw bricks. I'm a city boy. Never heard of Gooseberries until a few years ago when BilletHead was posting on making gooseberry jam. We ate the wild blackberries that the birds didnt get to first.
