Good bullets make a big difference, they are not all created equal. The idea is to expend all of the energy from that round in the animal’s vitals for maximum effect…any animal hit in that fashion ain’t goin nowhere. A bullet that’s good for elk or bear is going to zip right through a whitetail, but it is better to use a good controlled expansion bullet in case you hit bone like a hip or shoulder where it will continue on rather than fragment. My 4 wheeler doesn’t care if I have to take it 20 yards farther to load up.

Could not agree more Seth, I love bow hunting and it is critical to look and listen carefully immediately after and then give deer time to settle after the shot. If there is any question about placement, back out and wait. That is equally important to setting up for and making a good shot…and a good shot is a close shot, I don’t give a dang how far away I can hit a target.

If gun hunting I love putting whitetail down with a 245 gr xtp from of a .50 muzzleloader. Anchors them, disregards any impeding twigs, and delivers a most satisfactory sensory experience. Accurate well beyond 100yds and that is overkill in the thick woods I hunt. I have many other rifles but that one puts a smile on my face every time I pull the trigger.

There will always be a hot new round marketed to get generating $$$. Always. My hunting buddy had a 6.5 Creedmoor built for him that he took hunting this year…he is a good shooter, and never misses. He missed this year, the bullet likely hit a tiny bush honeysuckle twig and deflected. I think his ‘06 would not have had the same deflection but I can’t prove that.

They are great spinnerbait trailers as well, especially the single tail. Dragging them has always worked best for me in early spring on chunk rock banks.

Dude, hybrids are delicious. Firm white meat and a good flavor. I don’t typically fry them, but baked, in chowder, fish tacos……yum! You hafta have a man’s knife to clean them, but well worth the effort.

We were the first group off on Saturday morning at Normandie for years because of just that; kind of lost enthusiasm as they opened up the course with different management. Not that I am a good golfer, the tight layout just leveled the playing field a bit as big hitters could not stay out of trouble. Don’t play much anymore but likely will once retired.

No, mine was a single round hole and big dent right below the handle…apparently they then just toggle the screwdriver up and down and it catches the linkage and unlocks. The dent did extend up into the door handle recess which likely added to the repair cost. Either way, it blows!

I was playing a charity tournament at Forest Park, so go figure(duh!). I was the only truck hit, the other vehicles were mainly high end Euro sedans - the cop I spoke to figures they were hoping for a hand cannon from me but only came away with one pair each Costa/Oakley, my darts/case, and a bunch of change and crap from the console. The door ticked me off more than anything as they punched a hole in it with a phillips head to unlock it and it cost me $1k to get it repaired. I don’t think that trick works on my current truck as it was clearly an issue that needed to be changed by Chevrolet.

The only time my truck was broken into and ransacked was at the golf course.
Had my clubs with me and had tucked my wallet and checkbook up under the front seat on top of the power linkage….they did not find those but cleaned out everything else which still hurt. Not to mention the repairs to the door on the drivers side. 7 other vehicles were hit at the same time, cops said this was getting to be the norm…they were probably only in that lot for 3 minutes.

One of my Weims got blasted in the face from short range and she had that skunky smell oozing from her pores for at least 6 months. She never went near another one.
Mike
Poor kid never caught another keeper black after that fish….bad luck I tell ya. I will say in my experience I have have caught some toad largemouth while fishing for stripers…I guess they are cruising for leftovers.

Strategic both ECONOMICALLY and militarily.
It is a stretch to intimate that the US could have prevented this situation, as the angst in Russia over the loss of access via Ukraine began even before the full dissolution of the USSR. Our only choice is whether we are going to do anything about it except flap our gums….and that is not to me I think we should, just that the choice has always been that simple.
