  1. There has been a watch list and consumption guidelines on the bodies of water to be concerned with for some time. Don’t think any of the White River chain is on it, but I know the Mississippi is a no surprise example. I’m too old to change my ways anyway. Mike
  2. If I had a jungle cock…. (not the place) Mike
  3. I would like to say that has never happened to me, but it has. Had to be a toad striper, you can turn a big cat. Mike
  4. I agree there are several size and classes streamers, and trout streamers and temperate streamer ain’t the same either. I was aiming for something that fishes well on a 5wt for trout; not the same fly I would ever chuck for stripers or big browns. Bottom line, I need to live closer to those big fish! Mike
  5. You can send me the two extra…😉. I like me some temperate bass….lol. Mike
  6. Freddy’s is what Steak and Shake WAS before they started playing the corporate game of trimming portions and buying lower quality ingredients. Skinny fries are tasty fries. Mike
  7. I do like Dave’s willow add on rather than an additional treble. I will be trying that for sure Thanks to you both for sharing! What I need is another spoon box(I already have a “few”); now have to figure out what else I am leaving at the dock…. Mike
  8. Lighter for less flow, the heavier the flow the heavier the jig. Mike
  9. I see some whites and hybrids chomping that one. Mike
  10. Don’t disagree, but they have certainly discovered open water, and it is noticeable. I fish primarily open water year round, and had zero competition for suspended and deep fish before FFS. Not anymore, boats are on suspended staging fish (mostly schools of crappie) in spring and winter where I would be the only one fishing previously. I have scrapped some of my best trolling patterns as they are no longer feasible with these boats moving with the schools along the break lines I typically work….it’s an annoyance, but I just move on to an area they haven’t found yet. Mike
  11. Yes. Vary Cadence and length of stroke until the fish tell you it’s right. You can cast and retrieve as well on a gravel bottom but rocks and wood will claim your bait if casting across areas with structure. Mike
  12. Squirrel and Herl
  13. It’s not mine…am I supposed to invent something? That’s awful brave of you…..but I can do that if that’s the deal. Mike
  14. This is what I am thinking….the KISS principle seems to work best for me. (In olive of course). Tungsten(10) and unweighted(12). Mike
  15. I was wonder about that…still gonna try it, because that looks like such a hoot and we get lots of evening hatches. Thanks for sharing! Mike
  16. I will join, I will give it my best shot. Mike
  17. They look great to me! Mike
  18. The fins look opposite the orientation on a jigging Rap, will be interested to see how they do. Paint looks good to me! Mike
  19. More than one way to skin a cat, that’s for sure. I use the stops all the time in spinner or slow death rigs for walleye and line size as well as stop size are important to how effective they are - just like anything else fishing related. In the rigs I use, there are swivels(at least one) involved as well - you won’t beat a swivel for controlling line twist, or stopping a heavy weight(where a bead is a must as well). I have also at times spliced my line with a double-uni with a bobber stop as a “the buck stops here” point depending on the situation. Did I mention that all swivels are not created equal……? Mike
  20. I started with a recurve bow…riding bikes to the ponds and creeks and stalking the banks in daylight. They didn’t go anywhere once hit but you had to be stealthy or they were gone. Graduated to a .22 Benjamin and the .22lr and gig later depending on circumstances. Not near the opportunity there once was. Love me some frog legs. Mike
  21. Those will work….The plastic fin definitely makes a difference…and I agree the originals are pretty pricy! Mike
  22. I always have one tied on when I am spooning; they can be counted down and horizontal jigged or straight retrieved in the desired depth range at various speeds to good effect, but I don’t use them exclusively - I typically alternate them with a selection of other baits. Mike
  23. Exactly what my wife and I do, except I add beef trimmings(also partially frozen) I get from the local butcher for some fat. Similar drill when making sausage, one run through grinder and the next pass through the vertical stuffer. I am still waiting for my sausage buck, we have right at 75# of grind meat in the freezer from early bow season. Mike
  24. Confirmation that there are laws that don’t make any sense. Mike
  25. I have one as well, they are awesome. I love a sharp knife….detest a dull one. Mike
