  1. Walleye…looks like it has the white tail spot. Nice! Mike

    What's Cooking?

    Congratulations! Mike
  3. I was down last week for a couple days and it was lighter than I had expected…Fri-Sun is a zoo. Mike
  4. Thanks! Mike
  5. I tried P-line years ago for suspending baits and did not like the feel or durability. I am all braid or flour/braid combo except for a couple topwater rods spooled with mono. It’s been my experience that you get what you pay for with respect to fishing lines…I have not found anything inexpensive that I really like. Mike
  6. I would add to the above snapping a heavier jigging style spoon off the bottom and letting it flutter down as you swing it past them…the reaction bite can be super effective. Mike
  7. That is a beast…nicely done! Mike
  8. I always seem to catch trash fish too…..lol. Mike
  9. Foul! Walleye’s teeth are rounded and do not typically cut line. Have caught a many on 4 and 6# test. Garfish are another story….. Mike
  10. I’m not much of a photographer…these are both blue cat.
  11. Little different deal today, found a good school of hybrids with the usual bunch of blue cat shadowing them. Kept three hybrids for the freezer; did not catch a single largemouth which surprised me. Mike
  12. They had to be pulling even though the message line said 5k….they were definitely oriented where I would expect with good flow, but like I said they were pretty high in the column. Have a 6xd on the deck now, as I think I could have really sacked them up on one yesterday. Had fun with that big swimbait! Mike
  13. Fish were up in the column this afternoon…did not catch a bunch but they were all solid. They were feeding on fry at 15-20’ over 35-40 FOW. Sorry, I don’t have live scope, no fancy screenshots - had to do it the old way. Caught half on a tailspin and the other half on a Live Target Gizzard Shad. Lost a LM at the boat on the swim bait that would have pushed 6#. Git you some. Here are a couple:
  14. Longer is better; for years Charger, Champion, or Ranger were the favorites. I see an awful lot of Phoenix boats out there these days but I really can’t comment on the latest hulls because I don’t have experience in one. I think setup is equally important; you want to have plenty of lift so you have control at any rpm range. FW or one of the other locals can give you their thoughts, but those are my $.02 worth.
  15. I like to candy some when I can for the sweet hot; I put them on sandwiches and such or just eat then like “Candy”. Mike
  16. Those are beautiful fish! Mike

They do have good eats in France, that’s for sure. I enjoyed duck a few ways while in Paris that I’ve never been able to duplicate. Germany was heavy on the pork, which I am allergic to, but they know their way around a kartoffel(potato) pretty well which makes up for it. Enjoy! Mike

    What's Cooking?

Looks delicious…miso is an excellent soup addition…I’ll even eat it with seaweed..lol. I could not identify the cous cous so I opted not to share my ignorance. Mike
  19. I went out last night and it was pretty poor…caught a couple crappie and a drum. There were shad and fry everywhere I looked, just could not locate any larger fish other than crappie. That’s fishing. Mike
  20. Not anywhere as good as a couple weeks ago last nite but still caught a few..32 FOW bouncing a white/chart spoon. Caught a bunch of keeper crappie, which is very unusual for me anyway with this technique, and a few nice blue cats. Pictures of a couple fish. Will try again tonite or tomorrow morning…looked like some fish were suspended in the same range and if so I will drag some cranks through them. Mike
  21. You have the right idea, just keep tying and working on technique - it takes a bit when working with hair to develop the right feel for measuring and wrapping. There is no substitute for practice - see what works and what doesn’t. I just recently got bored and stripped all my “doesn’t’ ties(and there were a “few”) with a straight razor and recovered the hooks for future efforts. Mike
  22. Alhonna is set up for this sort of deal; no idea the cost. Decent location on the lower end, with easy access to Wrench’s fish…. Mike
  23. And I still see expired paper tags back to 2020 and more….LOTS of them. If I pulled out of my driveway with one of them they’d have me spread eagle against my truck before I got halfway down the block. I’m a lucky sort. ‘Mike
  24. And that is a personal decision, and usually not an easy one. On the flip side, like BH, my wife is a cancer survivor….she would likely already be gone w/o treatment. It’s like playing poker but the stakes are higher. Mike
