  1. Whew, yeah 90 minutes of work? Just thinking of that much toil is making me think I need a nap. Which BTW is another side benefit to the retired life, nap time whenever you want.
  2. You need to do things in reverse to catch walleye - go bass fishing first, that's when you'll have your best shot at a walter, then later in the day target walleye, and you'll probably get a bunch of bass.
  3. Congrats!
  4. Well I sure picked up some ideas from watching today, only watched about an hour total, but learned a few things.
  5. I watch it on my computer so I guess it might be different than a phone app, but on the first page there's a tab for "Event Coverage", click on that and you should see a "Watch" tab on the next page. Also, they don't start the live coverage until 9 AM Central today.
  6. Cliff Pace is out to an early lead, 14 for close to 20 lbs. Not someone I would had suspected would do well, but it's still very early.
  7. I did not see any wrapped boats up the White, of course I could've missed some if they were there, but they certainly weren't swarming the area.
  8. Well Wrench if you have a copy lying around, looking at Ebay and Amazon they are selling for $150 minimum.
  9. That would be a little further, I would have to come across the Eagle Rock bridge to get there. Eagle Rock is a few miles closer to me, but I haven't had much luck up there lately.
  10. Well I have to say my results were a bit disappointing, really thought I would get into them, but it did not happen. Just couldn't find where they were. tried a lot of different terrain, gravel points, rocky points, back in some coves and windy banks. Threw top water, c-rig, wobble head, jigs, and the Keitech. Every once in a while I'd catch a bass. Caught 13 total, 2 were keepers sized smallies. Caught a couple of walleye, one was a keeper. Rolled out at 1130, I could have stayed another couple of hours, but I know when things aren't going my way and I doubt staying another couple of hours would've mattered that much. Never have hit a deer in all my travels, but got one today on the way back, on one of the side roads going towards HWY 86, the deer came from the left side of the road, sprinted right in front of the truck, I had time to apply a little brake and WHAM! Hit her right in the hip with my front bumper. It was a really loud whack, thought I would've killed her for sure, but looked back and she was gone. No damage to the truck either. WT 70, water is stained, there are a few ig floaters out there so watch out.
  11. Did you get him signed up on the OA forum?
  12. Having watched many an MLF, I am a believer in speed, catch a fish, weight it, release it, and get up there and get that next cast in. Some of the guys seem to be good at fast tempo fishing, others not so much.
  13. Well here's my 2 cents: I generally use a Dobyns 705 composite CB rod for WTD baits, it is rated for 1/4 to 1 oz baits, but I think it's best in the 1/2-1 oz range. It's light enough that a 2lb bass is fun on it, but I have also caught quite a few stripers with it. It's 7 foot, I am 6'4'' and standing on my boat deck I have no problems with hitting the water with the rod tip. It also a great rod for fishing cranks. I believe Dobyns has a Fury 7 ft CB rod (med hvy) that has the same specs. The model I have is no longer produced.
  14. Yeah no way I'd go hand to hand with a heron.
  15. Sounds like Wilt Chamberlain. Well at least the part with the hundreds of women, and come to think of it, no one could do the job like Wilt could, if you consider playing hoops to be a job.
  16. That makes sense.
  17. What? You know they are predicting strong storms this weekend, is it a coincidence? You're starting to scare me, I promise in the future to be nice to you and hopefully stay on your good side. I don't need any of those storms to be directed at me.
  18. Aaron Martens can fish a drop shot pretty well.
  19. It's far from being a secret.
  20. They do seem to be around points, usually out deep off the bank a ways, when they are top you can see and hear them from quite a ways off.
  21. I plan on watching some also, should be pretty neat. I just hope they stay out of my super-secret spot.
  22. That makes sense to me.
  23. That's an Ego slider net and the TW lure is an Evergreen Shower Blow 125. Also caught one on a IMA Skimmer. I think any walk the dog type lure will work as will poppers and pencil poppers. That Evergreen is a solid piece of hard plastic and really casts far. The hoop on that net is a little small for stripers.
  24. Just looked at the schedule, didn't realize they start Friday and fish until Wednesday, always thought they wrapped it up on a Sunday.
  25. I'm a regular Tackle Warehouse walking advertisement, just about always wear one of my "free" TW T-shirts when I am fishing. Nobody has conferred pro status on me yet however, which makes me wonder, how does someone know if they are a pro? Does somebody send you a certificate?
