  1. The Grass Jig is a good all around jig. Give them a call though, I have found them to be very helpful.
  2. I shouldn't even post this picture, as a matter of fact a few minutes ago a 5 lb. bass came flying through my window and attacked my computer screen when I had this picture on it. (OK, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration).
  3. I give you credit.
  4. I didn't know where it was, I assumed Florida, but looks to be near Birmingham AL?
  5. Uncle Rico - Dude cracks me up. Ultimate fishing road trip van right here.
  6. Saw on Bassmaster webpage that his body has been recovered. No other info than that.
  7. First off you need to get a Minnesota accent, fish won't bite under the ice for a guy that sounds like he is from Missouri.
  8. This clause worries me: including any travel and transportation costs associated with collecting the Grand Prize. All other costs not specifically stated herein as being awarded are the responsibility of the Grand Prize winner. The good news is you won a boat, the bad news is that it is located at our BPS dealership in Siberia.
  9. First day out in a while, weather has been too cold for my delicate constitution, but today met my requirements. Also was inspired by Champ's report, love to fish for smallies on the dam end. Fishing was pretty good for January, I caught about 20 bass total, 12 or 13 of them being smallies. Nothing real big, but my first fish of the New Year went about 17 inches. Caught maybe 4 or so keeper sized smallies and a couple of chunky spots. Dragging 1/8 oz Ned on shelf rock banks and in front of docks that hung over 20 foot or less of water were the best locations, caught a couple around timber. Fish were grouped up, when I got a bite there were usually a couple of more bites nearby. 10 - 20 FOW was best depth. Finished up in a cove near the Indian creek launch, about 4 PM the stripers were feeding in that cove on shad, lots of top water activity. I walked the dog, had three swipes at it, none of them touched the lure. They looked to be chasing small shad in the one inch range, that Yellow Magic Havana I was throwing was just too big I believe. Water temp was around 47, surprised me it was that warm. Here's some smallie pics and a fat spot. All the fish are healthy, they are eating well. This post has been promoted to an article
  10. I haven't been down on that end of the lake in a while. Saw some reports that guys were getting some on jerk baits and cranks.
  11. Yep, I am in - and likewise hoping for better results.
  12. Pulling for you buddy, hope all is well.
  13. Thanks for the info Notropis, interesting stuff.

  15. Nice fish - looks like Donna is holding a quality meanie. Love that end of the lake.

    What's Cooking?

Dang Marty that rib roast looks good. Maybe next year at Jigfest we get everybody to throw in an additional $20 and we do rib roast. Dunno how that would work as it would be a lot of roast to cook at one time, but man it looks good!
  17. I'll bring a grill and charcoal.
  18. Yep, I bet you find them next time out. Nice day to be out compared to the weather the last couple of weeks.
  19. Don't let a secret spot thread run you off. These come up about every two months, nothing to get upset about.
  20. Good on you for towing them back. You deserved to catch a striper or two for that.
  21. The phrase "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind.
  22. What pics? They must have been deleted. How can I even go fishing if you guys don't give me exact coordinates to the hot spots?
  23. Cancer of any kind is a bad way to go, treatments for it aren't fun either. Much easier to put on some sunscreen, wear clothing, and big hats. Takes about one minute to put on the sunscreen, even less if you go with the aerosol spray.
