I've tinkered with them in the past and I came to the conclusion that even an honest 10" is slightly pushing it. About 9.75" is about perfect for a "big worm" in this state.

If I feel I need bigger then I go FATTER, not longer.

I can't begin to tell you all the replies I have for this.

But then Phil will kick me out. :D

I have been using some stuff from a new (to me) company called Power Team Lures. If the mailman is good to me tomorrow, I'll have a big watermelon worm to try Saturday morning. Going to run it on a wobble head.

Brother, I literally had one typed out for ya (of course, my home lake is Beaver), but I couldn't pull the trigger. Mr. Phil would've skinned me alive

I mixed up some brown (peanut butter) dye and laid some Manns 9" black grape Jelly worms in flat, made a pb&j worm, bid blulky bait fished it on rock piles, caught a few but I was a little bit early for that pattern

I use both 10" and 12" worms and mostly at night. Really only use 3 brands: Culprit (Red Shad only), Zoom Ol' Monster is a few colors and really like the Net Bait C-Mac because of the variety of colors they have that are different than Zoom's offerings.

That 10-inch Culprit in red shad works like a charm on Grand and Dardanelle.
