you are doing exactly what I hate to see, demonizing those who don't think the same way you do.

But Al, that's the new American way.

Progressives is not a positive term to me. I feel they are ruining the country. Let's take God out of everything. They say they believe, but do they. Looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, what is it. A progressive. No matter what party.

Heck with God in Government. The elimination of a National Religion is clearly defined in our country's founding documents. If you want God in government move to Syria or Iran and see how you like it. The Frozen Chosin retreat was in Korea Old Pliug. Would put your buddy at 80+. Thank him for his service.

Thats right Gavin I have two that were there. Another who spent 4 yrs in the south pacific. Yes they are alive and kicking. You know this is a retirement area here. Were rich in vets here though of all ages.

I want to add Gavin I spent over 40 yrs in DOD and DA. Much of that time was spent in support of WW2, Korean and other veterans all the way up thru Vietnam. I had excess to all types of documents from. morning reports to awards and decorations. I took that very serious. At one time I had. 14-5 drawer file cabinets filled with POW diaries. Even though I was Navy in my own service I have very strong feelings for people who were in direct ground combat. Chosen Resivior had to be among the worst of the worst. All because of a 5 star show boat.

Taking, rather keeping God out of government is the point. Religion has no business making policy for a nation founded upon religious freedom. In the minds of those who make statements like yours, religious freedom is great as long as people believe your way, right?

After Supreme Court decision let's see what happens when a church won't marry same sex. Have to remove crosses, Ten Commandments, prayers from schools (which I grew up with) from any government property. I spent 20 years in the military and now you cannot bring up God in the open and chaplains getting punished for it. I feel we are living in syria. The government (courts) have removed God from everything. Maybe that's why our country is doing so good now everyone is prospering, loving each other we are at peace with all. Are you kidding me. The government spends more time protecting atheists and Muslims, than Christians. I think our country was founded more on the latter. I thought the government was not suppose to get involved.

Your feelings on this nation being founded on Christianity are wholly incorrect. In fact, the founding fathers said as much. If you attend a Catholic school, pray away, but don't expose those who choose not to subscribe to the cherry picking of a document such as Christianity if they choose not to be indoctrinated.

Ok we've discussed guns and God, now let's discuss the confederate flag. Fly it or store it. We have to at least get 20 pages

I'll get to the Confederate battle flag in a minute :)

First, churches weren't forced to marry interracial couples after the Supreme Court ruled on that, they've never been forced to marry ANYBODY. They won't be forced to marry gays. And if gays or whoever tried to make that a law, I'd be on your side and fighting against it.

Other than that, I disagree with everything you said in that post. I'll leave it at that.

Now for the flag thing...I see absolutely no reason in permanently flying it on public property. Whether it's a symbol of something else to you, it's a symbol of racism and fighting for slavery to many. It does not have to fly on public property to commemorate the heroism of the South in the Civil War. Other than that, there should be no restrictions on where private individuals and groups display it, and it's fine in museums.

But I have to chuckle when I see it flown in people's yards in the Ozarks. I guarantee you that the vast majority of people in the Ozarks displaying that flag are not doing so to celebrate the heroism of Southern soldiers. They are flying it because of some romantic notion of being a rebel, or some kind of statement against the federal government, or because they are out and out racists. And as a native of the Ozarks, I KNOW people who are flying it as a racist statement, so don't pretend that's not so. Understand that I'm not saying everybody who displays it is racist. Probably a lot are showing it for the other two reasons I mentioned, and some are truly flying it to commemorate Southern heroism. And I support their right to fly it, no matter what their reasons are. But it may be saying something about them to many people that they don't intend.
