Brian Jones Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 When they were building the BPS in St. Chuck, I was happy in that I figured we'd finally have a store within driving distance where I could get whatever I needed whenever I needed it. Felt the same about Cabela's. However, the last half dozen or so times I've been to both, I've left disappointed; particularly for making an hour and fifteen minute drive north only to find out they were out of what I had went there for. So for me anymore it's pretty much Roger's Sporting Goods for my hunting clothes, Natchez Shooters Supply for my ammo and Barlow's, Jann's netcraft, and Tackle Warehouse for fishing stuff. Free shipping at Tackle warehouse on orders over 50 bucks and two day shipping for 5 bucks if you need something quick. Champ188, vernon and abkeenan 3
Flysmallie Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 The best thing about BPS is Springfield is their ship to store option. You shop and purchase online, which offers way more than is available in the store. Then you just go the customer service counter with your order info, they hand you the package and you walk out. No trying to slide by somebody taking a picture, no waiting for the crowd to disperse around the gators, no trying to avoid the Big Cedar sales team. Get in, get out. tho1mas 1

If the Missouri legislature had its way you would be paying a SERVICE SALES TAX on all the free ahipping to the store. That is what propositin 4 s all about on your Ballot in Nov. proposition 4 is a constiturional amendment to prohibit the state from doing this type thing. It is not that the Legislature hs not been trying. 7 times now so they are persistent. Service sales tax covers just about everything from labor to serving you a burger. vernon 1
Gavin Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Do vote for prop 1 (State Park Funding) and for prop 4 (limit on new sales taxes). I don't care about the others much. Missouri's state tax rates are not as bad as Illinois or Northeastern state tax rates, but there is a reason why Tennessee and Texas are kicking Missouri's tail in terms of economic growth.
Seth Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 As long as I can get Cabelas Tournament ZX and BPS microlite graphite rods, I don't care what happens! I like both a lot.
Macsimus Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Joe Balog's take on the subject: http://www.bassfan.com/opinion_article.asp?ID=1406#.WAinMRlOlAg Daryk Campbell Sr 1 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Champ188 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 A very good read, Macsimus. Thanks for sharing!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 20, 2016 Root Admin Posted October 20, 2016 Speaking of Cabela's... is anyone else getting an ad on OAF that advertises a big Cabela's sale? I clicked it and looked around. I may have to order some winter shirts.
Terrierman Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 My crystal ball says BPS will go public within the next five years as a vehicle to assure Mr. Morris' family's wealth into the future. Goldman Sachs will like it when it happens. Fees and all that. The IPO will be even larger due to the inclusion of all the recent additions to the BPS brand. And I'm the kind of person who applauds success on the scale that Johnny Morris has enjoyed.

For the sake of it's employees I hope it never does. His family's wealth is already secured, no sense in ruining a good thing.
