Hear you on Rangers. Share the same dealer as Vernon. Went in to kill some time the other day. Almost didn't survive the trip. Prices are brutal. Current Ranger may be my last one. vernon and magicwormman 2
Sore Thumbs Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 A dealer friend of mine here in Arkansas had a 2013 Z-8 with 250 Merc and less than 100hrs he sold for $25800 less than six months ago. It was a cream puff. crazy4fishin 1
WeekendWarrior Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I think the Evinrude G2 has a industry best 10 year warranty, I am in no way affiliated with them but that is some peace of mind. Have talked to some guys here that have Phoenix boats and love them and said they saved $10K off of a Ranger. I just do not know how these boat companies think the average fisherman can justify spending $60-70K on a boat and use it 10-15 times a year, that is crazy! dtrs5kprs, Daryk Campbell Sr, Wart 57 and 3 others 6
Sore Thumbs Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 That is a heck of a warranty. I too have heard Phoenix is a good boat. Not sure on resale on those. I believe Mr. Babler has a Phoenix and loves it. As for frequency of fishing. If someone is goin 10-15 times a year it would be hard to justify that price. I'm getting to that point on my 07 20i. Do I start spending money on fixing mine up or just buy a newer one. It's probably a wash when you add up the expense. It would be better to have one with all the latest technology and a warranty. Now getting my wife to agree is a different issue in itself. ? vernon and Royal Blue 2

The boat companies don't care if you use it once or 100 times a year. What gets me are the guys that buy those $40,000+ Boats and use them rarely. I would have to live in one if I spent that much. People say "It's JUST $300.00 a month". But with interest that $50,000 boat will cost you $65,000 when paid off. Just don't get it hence why I have never bought anything newer than a 3 year old boat. Bill Babler Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I'm with ya on the boat prices. If you can find 20' to 22' with a 250 on it new for 40 grand you better latch onto it. On another note who would have thought carpeting 3 bedrooms would cost $12,000.00. Price of doing business has really changed hasn't it? I have not ordered my new Phoenix yet, but if anyone is interested in my 2014 Pro Staff boat send me a PM. Warranty will be thru 2020 I can probably save you about $20,000 if you want a pre-owned one. I don't remember Vernon's deal being that easy. Maybe he should rethink that. vernon, dtrs5kprs, Sore Thumbs and 1 other 4 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Ham Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I'm a BassCat guy. I absolutely love my Cougar, but I might drop down to Pantera 2 on the next one. If I got unhappy with my Cat, I would look hard at Phoenix. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I've fished out of both and loved both boats. I was looking for a P2 when I found a motivated seller of a Cougar with low hours (<45 hours). Usually, I'm not on big enough water to need the extra length. Cougar isn't a lot longer than the P2, but it can tote the 250 HP vs a 200 HP. I might notice a significant difference if I dropped down to the Sabre. SplitG2 and Wart 57 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
