Not the county north of Springfield. There must have been 50 out picking up trash and road kill along 44 yesterday. We could see ff into the distance and there was this one group all lined up policing the side of the highway.  Then I noticed this other dude was standing about 30 ft in back of them along the edge of the woods. I thought we was aboit to see a guinine escape. The giard was up in the van in front of a big trailor (if there even was a guard. I never seen a armed guard all day and they were still workimg when we came back the other way

The prisons and county jails are full of guys that could be helping.

Actually the prisoners in Pacific MO had been making sand bags since March for the town.  Literally thousands of bags.  The sheriff bought all of the prisoners McDonald's meals.  Some hadn't had a hamburger in 6 years.

Not to take this flooding lightly, but presuming there are some breaks in the rain the next few days, where would one go on the Jefferson county side of this, to fish a little where access is allowed to the public. Clearly I'm not talking about flooded rivers, but that aside I don't know what's nearby that isn't flooded. The lake at Arnold I bet is flooded, don't think there's any way to get to the lone fabick lake off of Bowles (for me at least) and especially not the main two, the one lake in Festus (West Festus lake maybe?) seems too close to Joachim creek if that's still flooded. Joachim Creek near Bates Memorial Park is probably still flooded. Am I wrong with any of these, and if not is there anywhere else fishable?

West City Park in Festus is not Flooded, would really be devastating to very many more if it got that high.  I am giving first hand knowledge,  passed the lake/ pond this morning.   Let me know if you go, may beable to join you.  Arnold park is all under.  The Elks have a pond if you are a member.

Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me)

Cool, that's good news. I'll keep that in mind. Hope I can make it out for a little bit later on. Right now I'm still trying to find where there's some volunteers needed around Arnold or thereabout that I can get to. I'm not finding anything useful online right now.

I think most area's have suspended sandbagging for now.  That's what they said on the news today.

That's what I thought I heard yesterday evening on the news too. Was supposed to be mainly just waiting now. But that being said, I figure I see if Gavin had a point.

Eh, guilting people is rarely productive. I agree we should be helping those in need. If you want to post instructions for where/how to do that, I'm sure you would get a favorable response.

But you can't really shout someone down for asking a fishing question on a fishing forum.

ehh Gavin has a point there......every creek and river is flooding here and you are asking about where to go fish that may not be flooding??? give me a break!!!!

I have an answer for him.....buy a Missouri Gazetteer and go on this link  http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=lsx  do some homework on your own. Explore a little and figure some of this crap out for yourself.  I don't think this fishing forum is for exposing your favorite stream or lake as much as it isn't for "guilting" someone as you said to help some people out in serious trouble right now......which is not what Gavin was doing IMO.

Ummm Haris if you can't figure out where to go to help with sandbagging you are more clueless than I could have ever imagined......if you actually wanted to help??

Edit: I do not wish to continue this. People are in trouble, and this isn't the place for this beyond stupid argument

This is a FISHING FORUM. People come around here to talk about fishing...you "holier than thou" folks who feel the need to let people know what they should be doing with THEIR free time need to take a step back. Without knowing someones situation what gives you the right to call them out for asking a simple, appropriate question.

Maybe the poster has been sandbagging for a week and just wants a break, hypothetical but possible.

It's a sad situation for folks dealing with the flooding, I've got friends who run businesses on the NFOW who I've already offered up assistance to when it's needed. That being said, if I have the opportunity to wet a line somewhere in the very near future I'm not gonna lose any sleep feeling like an a-hole because I'm doing so instead of assisting like you think we all should be. You live your life and I'll live mine....
