Times like this often remind us that the term "drama queen" isn't exclusive to women (Donna G definitely excluded). Actually, Donna has no fear of joining me for a flood-stage fishing trip. Of course, common sense and normal safety practices are a big part of the outing, but that's the case in any conditions.

The water level is lower than Sunday, and even then it was no problem to launch at Cow Creek ramp and there was hardly a single piece of floating debris except for in the back of Big Cow.

And for those wanting to learn current lake conditions straight from the horse's mouth (as opposed to the other end, as posted above), that information is readily available on both this site and by downloading the Little Rock District Army Corps of Engineers smartphone app.

Come down, go fishing, have fun ... just use common sense and caution.

Man Champ we must have been born from the same mold. Ive gotten a little finger fatigue the past few days speaking my case in regards to still being able to fish, without dying or killing anyone in the process. The lake is fishable, as we see guys posting their outings, with good success.  Common sense goes a long way, and will still surprise you if you let your guard down if your not careful. Looks like we are going to have a good group for our open tourney Sat.  Not sure yet if Aunts will be open, but if not i will move it to Indian Point.  Get out there and have fun guys.

Well said, brother. Fortunately, our fragile lives will ever be guarded by a few generous souls up North who are more than willing to offer their "expert" opinions. :D (Macsimus and others excluded, of course)

I hit a floater once really hard that did over $1,200 damage to the outboard. I remember it very well. But that was on a hot sunny day on a lake at normal levels. You always have to pay attention.

I was fishing Pomme about 10 years ago in my Ranger. Put in at Bolivar Landing, made a left to head up the river. About a mile up, the river makes a hard left. As i was passing that shallow point on the left, i noticed a HUGE tree, probably 2 1/2 to 3' across and about 40' long coming out from that point and only a few inches sticking out of the water. I made a mental note for my return trip back that way.  I fish up river 6 hours or so and was running about 50 when i noticed that tree, with no time to do anything but pull it into neutral hold on.  Hit that sucker at almost 50 and when my lower found it, yea that wasnt pretty.  10 years ago and can still feel my butt puckering.

Mine was on Pomme too! I was running towards Wheaton and had just passed Lightfoot. Had a boat coming towards me so I steered to the right to make sure we had plenty of distance between us. The steered in the same direction. So I went a little more right. The followed. So I pulled left and just pegged the throttle. That's when I saw what they saw. I was probably running 65ish at that point. And then I did the same thing as you, pulled it out of gear and held on.

In reality, about the only thing that changes is that now we're pretty much being forced to be as aware and cautious as we should be all the time.

Well, except for having to drive all over the place looking for boat ramps!

And flooded picnic tables and outhouses.......

Nobody is being overly dramatic over this flood. It only closed down half of southern Missouri roads and left many people stranded in their homes killing some in the process. Most of you have fished TR and have boated long enough to know what to look for and how to be safe while on the water. To make a broad assumption that everyone else does too is very ignorant.
