My daughter and I could have decimated a local creek a few days ago.  The fish were keyed in on all the beetles and were seriously competing against anything buggy looking that landed in the water.   She had a black Sneaky Pete, and I had a brown & chartreuse Club Sandwich Hopper.  The fish were absolutely going nuts for both of those offerings.   We could have easily demolished the bass population of a 2 mile stretch in a single evening.

I don't think Chief is saying they were illegal. I saw a post about the original post and even that person was saying it was within their legal right. And I know he's not surprised that the group put a hurt on them. Heck Britt and I could have put a level of hurt on this stream back in March.

I think he is just pointing out that no matter the education, no matter the posted signs, this stuff is going on everyday on these streams.

That's it exactly!

And this does happen with  increasing regularity.  And yes I know it's legal and yes I know I have defended the leagality of it, but boy do I cringe when I see it!

With kayaks being the new trendy millennial watercraft,  days like these on our streams are becoming more and more common!  No stream is safe anymore!

I do believe it is high time that we become more proactive to these situations instead of reactive!

I know that I still waffle on regulations but over the last few years I have become increasingly more aware that more stringent regulations on the streams of Missouri are going to have to be implemented!

I went through this when MDC went online and killed my honey holes with big numbers of people that resulted from quick info on fishing locations.  It is very shocking what the legal taking of fish on small waters can do.

i can show you a bunch of beautiful areas that are mostly devoid of quality fish only replaced by dinks.

Well they (MDC) are asking for ideas and input on regs now, I just saw something a couple days ago saying that they wanted input.....to which I went "pfffft" about and swiped it aside because I'm under the impression that "angler input or concerns" has never changed anything before.

But maybe I'm wrong, so send them your ideas and concerns. Can't hurt I reckon.

I still haven't gotten a reply to my well thought out and perfectly composed concerns about the outrageous number of tournaments on LO....and what has it been now, almost 5 months ago?

Yeah y'all can tell 'em what's up, but I'm not gonna waste my time.

Much the same has happened up here in Illinois . Worst of it was , I had one of the guys who had a hand in decimating a creek come to me and asked me to see if I could get the IDNR to restock that creek .

I told him that he and his buddies did it, they could go to the IDNR . I also told him that the likelihood of the dept doing that was slim and none with the budget cuts they were taking .

darn if I was going to try to get that creek restocked so they could do it all over again .

Not that I ever had the influence on the dept to get something like that budgeted but for some reason they thought I did .

what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

My first thught was it was a goat, but looking closer I believe it's a dog.  Yeah it may be legal but on a small stream it definitely leaves a mark.

MoPanfisher I agree 100% it will decimate the section of stream in my opinion.

As much as it makes my skin crawl to see people harvesting fish from a small and beautiful stream like the little Sugar I can't help but, wonder why we think it's wrong or detrimental to the stream???

Or better yet why does that opinion fly in the face of the creel limits set by the MDC for bass on streams???

Are their laws on creel limits based on the fact that they bank on a ton of conservation minded Missouri fisherman to be CnR  for bass on streams??? Then just a few meat hunters it's okay for them to keep some meat because a certain number of fishernan are concerned about the fishery and throw everything back....if this is their thinking, which I highly doubt, they are flawed as hell in being put in charge of conserving our river fisheries.
