Your creative math even stabs your own argument in the back with a fish point. If bowfishers were actually harvesting 150,000 lbs a year, after year, after year, the fishery can obviously support that rate of harvest, and would likely suffer without it.

13k WEIGHED IN not shot..they ONLY weigh in the best 20 fish from a 4 man team....perhaps we can get the numbers of pounds sent to the organic fertilizer factory? ...granted the observations are anecdotal... but the impact is clear the Average size of fish are getting smaller..and we are talking ONE event on the white river chain......

2013 was the first US bowfishing tournament held around here. Boats restricted to  Table rock and Bull Shoals

2016 tournament was held on the Mississippi River in Memphis, TN

see above....just like fish that end up dumped along the side of the road, or in a ramp trash can on Taney...that don't get counted....fishing for common carp and buffalo has nose dived since the Bfing tourneys began.

way more than 250 boats compete on the average over the last 5 years

I think this spring 900 competed, so at 150k over 5 years, I was figuring light...real numbers are far far over that

only 243 boats entered the tournament held in springfield this year.

I don't really want to get into a pissing contest, but five years is correct if the event occurred already in 2017. So that would be 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

I guess the bowfishing stuff impacts the economy positively as well, but I see those fish as wasted. 

I think the carp would be tremendous fun on rods and reels vs an unused dead rotting fish.

I agree with this. I would live to bowfish but have a real hang up on this part of it.
