Quit picking on my buddy. We were up late texting about the ball game. He is either wrapped up in a prop or still in bed.

What?!?!

C'mon Wrench!  Get back in the fight!

You're no daisy!

This is way too good a readin' to stop now!

I'd like to tune in some night and see you two guys go at it on Tucker Carlson!

For now I've got nothing else to crow about.   I'm waiting for Susalaki to get around to posting more info about those studies.

Gotta make sure that's not all just "conjecture".

Why do you think the BilletHead's head West each Summer while we can. Catching fish where they should be. Go native!

So Wrench are you advocating that the MDC quit the trout program too? Another Wrench pet peeve is the Spoonbill stocking. Hey they are just trying to redo what man in his infinite wisdom did with dams to take out the NATIVE spawning grounds. Do you wan the dams removed and go back to a riverine system so native can come back? It would drain your lake and way to make a living? Guess you could move to the salt and work on crusty outboards that or since we will be leaning to a more natural setting you could become a dugout canoe patchier or builder? I know how you feel about that :) . Since all the condos and hotels along the lake will be high and dry maybe the septic systems will percolate  directly into the ground and there will be less runoff. White bass will become abundant again. I am just getting into a debate mode again. Saber rattling sharpens the sword buddy. I just wish I could kill more carp or go back into time over 140 years ago and stop the initial stocking. That is where it started. Lets start with what MoCarp said the MDC is doing stocking urban ponds with a non native fish :) . Guess that would be cheaper than providing the city folk transportation to LOZ to catch and eat tournament bass.

Perhaps they should stock big burly brow trout, or something that gets over 10#...wait what??? oh yeah that would be common carp

I'm so glad that you brought up the Spoonbill program and how they feel compelled to keep them around, because it gives me a perfect opportunity to point out that they ALSO ruined MORE MILES of smallmouth water than they did Spoonbill water when they started building dams....and they don't do jack ---- about that. Why not?  Can't even get a regulation or some extra enforcement to keep them from getting gigged.....but get caught piddling with a jar full of Paddlefish eggs and you'll lose everything you own and do some hard time.   Re-freakin-diculous.

I would love to see more done with smallmouths...I do think that is on their radar..last time I chatted with someone the were taking DNA samples via fin clips....so perhaps more is going on we don't see...I do know that the elk river drainage is of a concern

Maybe we could hybridize some carp that would survive is those cold water trout streams.  I wish they would stock wipers in Pomme instead of muskie, at least I wouldn't lose as many crankbaits.  The whitest are trying to make a comeback on Pomme, small ones were thick last fall and this spring.  I havent had a chance to even think about trying for any this fall, but if that many had died off this year there would have been a pile of them blown to the bank somewhere.

some of the biggest carp in our parts are in the middle stretches of Taney, big carp like cold water;)

Muskies Inc has more pull than wipers/stripers inc..wait what?

perhaps a new virus keeps killing them off, modified KHV or LMB virus that jumps species

See there Wrench those stinking white bass just die off in Pomme and there isn't even any hybrids in there : )  There is something wrong with whites in your lake because of all the hormones in the pee from all of those party folks. It is effecting everything out there. Does not make any difference in hybrids because they are sterile. Wal mart greeter is where you will end up :) ,

no wonder every 3 white tastes awful from LOZ

now now...studies are better than straight folklore....the man seems to know his fish breeding..I think I'd listen to him on that

I'm listening.

I haven't discounted what he knows yet.  He discounted what I know though, and did it right away....so I'll just shut up and listen.

4 years later......still, Crickets 🙄

In that amount of time the Whites at Pomme appear to have made a comeback, which is a good thing, and was as expected.     But if the gene pool had been contaminated with hybrids there IS a chance that it wouldn't have.

Why take that chance?

Are we not experiencing problems with bees that have been hybridized by biologist's?   Did they not cause irreversible damage?   Pretty sure they did, and there's really no fixing that.

This whole problem stems from over paid people in government trying to make themselves relevant. They have to spend money somewhere on something it is just like in cars and boats, crash sensors emissions requirements and rules and regulations to make us SAFER. These fish studies are going to make our lakes cleaner and more pleasurable to fish, make our fish more suited to the pollution we are putting in our water.  It all boils down to more regulation and equipment we do not need. These people get these grants to do studies for research to make things better then cram regulations on us that do not do any good. When a radio in a truck cost $3,000 to replace that is ridiculous because we cant be with out navigation, google bluetooth Arbys locator and whatever else crap they have on the vehicle to keep us from paying attention.  Do we need a buzzer in the seat to vibrate our butts when we are getting out of our lanes, why do we need our cars to brake for us to keep us from rear ending the person in front of us. WE DONT we need to put our phones down and pay attention, take responsibility for ourselves and quit raising snowflakes that are entitled and have no common sense. All this crap comes from GOVERNMENT intervention where they don't belong. Sorry for the rant.

That probably encourages more people to cross the line, that ordinarily wouldn't.    🥴

It is also why truck are costing $50,000 plus and boats are $65,000 plus. Craziness complete and totally insanity. I have an 87 Ranger that is just as good at catching fish and a 02 Silverado that gets me to the lake and home again.
