fishinwrench Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Once you cut the tip of the nozzle off you're screwed, because now it can seep out into the lid, and it's all downhill from there. Hughesy 1
Browning Guy Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I use the SuperGlue Liquid and have the same issues, but...... I open it put a drop on without touching the tip on anything, tap the bottom of the bottle several times on a hard surface, put the lid on as quickly as possible and keep it upright. Seems to help. I've been told Gorilla gel works well and I've used it and not had many issues. I keep 2-3 brand new bottles of Super in the boat at all times.
Ealy Posted October 29, 2017 Author Posted October 29, 2017 I think when I have the biggest problem is out on the lake gluing on a new grub, jig trailer, swimbait, ned rig, etc...If I know exactly how I'm going to be fishing, I'll glue up a few prerigged baits. Pretty soon, I end up with a little box of prerigged baits that end up rusting due to the salt content. Taking the time out to apply super glue with a toothpick while I'm also trying to control the boat is a little too much to ask. Champ188 1
Ham Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 I have converted to the Gorilla Glue Gel. Maybe not as Good as Loc Tite Gel, but plenty of holding power and not a 1/10 th of the aggravation of the Loc Tite. I agree with all the advice about closing lid promptly, keeping a clean tip, tapping bottle, and storing upright when possible. All good ideas. I never had much luck keeping Loc Tite clot free. Old plug Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 I am trying sometime with lock tight at this time. I seen on the bottle to keep it cool. I think if you put it away in a warm house it does something to it. Mine is in a small cooler. We will see. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Terrierman Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 I just buy multi packs of the cheap stuff and throw tube away no regrets if there is any problem. Donna G 1

I have at least a dozen LocTites in the boat, two of which are opened. If they fail, they get tossed and I move to the ten backups. When that happens, I go buy a couple more to replenish the stash. fishinwrench Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I have worse problems with RTV Silicone in the shop. If I have to use a pea sized dab of RTV on your boat then you're paying for a whole tube of it. Not really....but I should.

You should since a big tube of permatex ultra grey is 20 bucks around here or at least charge a couple of bucks...lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
