tjm Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 I was told to bleed by tail, filet out the back straps, cut the back straps into steaks, bread and fry like it was fish. This seems to work on 5-12 lb. carp. My wife and kids said it was good. ymmv
oneshot Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Ok we always just Breaded and Fried, my wife told me not to score because Crap Bones don't fry up like Suckers. Oh I skin Carp to get to the Mud Vein to cut it out. Growing up the bulk of our meat was Carp or Groundhog. I like Buffalo better but they are Native Fish. oneshot Johnsfolly and BilletHead 2

oneshot Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 Well at least Carp are a clean fish unlike a Catfish or Spoonbill. oneshot
jdmidwest Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Spoonbill are plankton filter feeders and small insect larva, they are as clean as the water they are in. Catfish too for the most part. Suckers, carp, and other bottom feeders tend to accumulate the poisons and heavy metals from the bottom of the streams they feed on and are not as healthy to eat. tjm Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I thought the metals were processed through the zoo plankton to the filter feeders then to the eaters of filter feeders and so on. Aren't carp considered filter feeders?
