Im also the "yes" crowd for keeping it the way it is. Theres a reason why its this way, and has been for decades. Cheating will and is going to happen no matter what. You cant beat a dishonest person enough to make him honest, but statistics would show you give an honest guy a shot at money and the temptations start. Sad but true. Im sure most are honest fishing tournaments "including carp tourneys" but to weed out the few idiots, is the biggest reason for no change to most clubs. I hate to say it this way but its the way I see it. You're more about tournaments than the fishery. Chief Grey Bear 1
Ketchup Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 There are "limits" for tourney guys, just like any other fishermen. What your questioning is "culling" which allows tournament anglers to replace a fish with another of greater size/weight. That same rule could apply to any other fish, not tourney related, that a guy puts in a livewell, ice chest, bucket, etc. I have fished hundreds of tournaments the past 26 years, and cant recall ever having a fish injured moreso that those being stuck in a skillet. I personally dont recall loosing more than i can count on 1 hand due to issues stemming from handling/livewell/transporting. Yes i have no clue what happens after release to them, but i know they have a better chance with me, than with those that plan to eat them. "i dont eat fish, for the most part". Its ok to disagree. but your 100% incorrect. I enjoy the sportsmanship, the competition, the thrill, but what i enjoy the most is outsmarting, outwitting, caving into the temptations to trying other ways to catch them, the companionship of fellow tournament guys, seeing what was caught at the end, shaking the hands of those that were able to capitolize better than myself, and to see the beauty of the fish themselves. I have done, do, and will continue to help in my small little way by drowning brush, removing litter, cleaning up shorelines, and getting kids/newbs into fishing. The tournament aspect is a small, but important part of my enjoyment. Hunter91, shark bait and Royal Blue 3 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Maybe referring to this regulation; 3 CSR 10-6.405 -3(E) During the months of September through June, black bass released unharmed by participants in a bona fide catch-and-release fishing tournament, which requires entrants to have a boat livewell with adequate capacity and a pump constantly adding fresh or recirculating water, shall not be included in the daily limit, however, at no time may the daily limit be exceeded. However that would be June 30 end. slothman 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Thats why Tourneys limit are usually 5. If the creel is 6 that means you can have 5 in the well and keep fishing so you never have more than 6 in there at a time. slothman 1
fishinwrench Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 My favorite thing to point out, on the topic of relocating critters, is that no other MDC regulated critter is allowed to be collected, transported, and relocated. If the negative results of doing so are nil, they why not allow it ? You can't even live trap and relocate coon's from your property, legally without notifying MDC of your intention to do so, and getting their consent. But it's ok to move bass repeatedly for thousands of guys every stinkin' day. evilcatfish, Champ188 and vernon 2 1
