Big ol Pan fish on the fly rod!

Yeah I never see big gills on LO anymore.    Used to know an old guy from Bonnets Mill that flyfished the bluffs (specifically docks along bluff banks) and caught big ol' lump headed monster blugill all the time.    He wouldn't bother fishing anywhere else. For all I know that might still work, I've honestly never tried it.

What is there for a bluegill to get fat on along a big mainlake bluff ?

A few more pigs ate the wooly bugger this evening.  Some bass too, but that first Gill is the biggest so far out of this little pond.

Awesome bull bluegill buddy! Great looking fish. ! I love catching big panfish. Haven't caught them on a flyrod in a long time. Congrats!

The second fish looks like a Green/Bluegill cross. Excellent fish, I’m looking forward to getting out for some Gill fishing soon.

I agree that second fish is a hybrid. They are in some of the ponds I fish.

hey Wrench I bet those big bluegill might be eating boaters that run into bluffs.
