snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I thought about this driving to work, NoLuck, I did say something bad a while back about Bennett. I complained when they put the hatchery pipe in below the main bridge and ruined a good area. Fist time I was there two people pulled up lawn chairs and started chucking bait. I knew then it was the demise of the Bennett I grew up at. Never been back but I have not dogged it or the people who fish there. Now the Park seems to cater to the general public more than the serious fisherman. I see all the time at Taney. In fact I've told several people they were in the fly area and can't use bait. Clearly if you have the bait jars right out in the open you aren't trying to scam the system. All of them thanked me for giving them the heads and asked where they could fish. I always send them to Cooper Creek. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

When smalliebigs saw something happening on a smallmouth stream he called the number and ACTUALLY did something about it. Not your job? But, if I took it upon myself to police all the regulations I’d spend most of my day on the phone. Its obvious that the agents don’t really give a crap. Otherwise there’d be someone there every weekend. And they’d be busy writing tickets. So the solution in your mind is for the people to police the people?? Yeah, that’ll work.

No. But yeah it actually would work. But again no. I'm not asking anyone to do anything. But you can't come on here acting like a child unless you are willing to do something. Anything. The MDC doesn't want you to confront them either. That's why they gave us a number. Takes what? A few minutes? Tell them what you know and see if they respond. If they don't then you can start complaining. This is exactly what is wrong with our country today. Everyone complains about all the problems but nobody is doing anything to make it better. And it is a trout park so what really do you expect?? I mean it's kind of like whining about somebody eating a donut that you were going to throw in the trash. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

I know, right?. You’d think with all the cameras they have everywhere to catch illegal urinating and drinking that they could catch some of these people🙄.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 You could always tell the person" be careful over here with that bait, you are really not supposed to use it. Last year they got me here for that." Or something along those lines. Get as elaborate as you like. Sometimes people really just don't know. There are so many signs all around. I have no idea about half of the holes, areas that you guys give names for. They are not always very easy for new people to recognize. I have been guilty of trying to keep a fish from the catch-and-release zone at Roaring River. Someone was kind enough to tell me. I have been guilty of trying to keep a fish from the catch-and-release zone at Roaring River. Someone was kind enough to tell me. That's a prudent way to handle something like that, Daryk. I had an example of this last summer directed to me on an out-of-state trip. We trolled by a guy who made statement in the way you suggest: "You're really not supposed to troll on this lake, so be careful about the game wardens." He was mistaken, as it turned out, but I appreciated the heads up that I might be fishing illegally. You're right. It can be confusing for people, especially if they got their information off the internet. I've seen websites say that zone 1 was fly only, zone 2 was flies and lures, but zone 3 was "all baits." Someone reading that might conclude that each zone got progressively looser on what was allowed, and they were allowing anything, flies included, in zone 3. The other parks also have areas where you can, in fact, throw anything, and that can't help. I don't know if you'd run into it much at Bennett, but I've fished in locales with a lot of immigrants before who might be struggling with the language or they're relying on their kids to interpret. fshndoug Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I see this same stuff all the time everywhere I fish, not just the trout parks. It amazes me that people think they can do anything they like.i politely tell them that are not playing by the rules. If that doesn't work then I call the proper authorities.I try not to get all worked up so it ruins my day.I would think more enforcement at Bennett would be beneficial but then would that hurt the local take at the gate. laker67 1
