Since moving here, I've learned to really like fishing with the Ned rig. I thought  everyone fished them with the light wire weed guard. Had a dock side discussion with some buds and they all fished it without a weed guard. So am I in the minority? I've never fished it without a weed guard. Maybe my "get em' in the boat" ratio would be higher. What do you guys use?

I fish with a weed guard IF I have them, but I have fished with them without weed guards and survived.

I use Dave's heads, and they have weed guards. I have honestly never tried anything else.

I've used both and really didn't notice a difference in snagging up, but I typically only use them in the winter on fairly clean bottoms.

I use the one's I make w/ a guard. They have the fine fiber guard with  a few pieces trimmed to size and the others have a  do-it wire guard.  With Bull Shoals as high as it is we've been fishing these heads deep in the brush . Might lose 2 or 3  a day at the most. The EC lil nasty hooks on them have yet to let a fish throw the hook. Every one that gets stuck w/ that sickle hook gets in the boat. The jig is also flat on the bottom and oval shaped like a mojo weight which keeps it from hanging in the rocks and helps the bait climb over and through wood. Don't use super glue either. The bend in the hook keeps the worm in position most of the time. Currently sold out, but will be making some more.
