Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 30, 2018 Root Admin Posted May 30, 2018 I just found this out from a post on our Facebook page... Not sure how I feel about it...
moguy1973 Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Sounds like it is a federal statute also that is requiring SS# for hunting, trapping and fishing permits. I know Illinois has required it for a while now. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Quillback Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Can't say I am ever happy when asked for my SS#, especially if it gets stored in a database. skeeter 1
liphunter Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 I find it a bit frustrating that certain businesses like hospitals and others require your SSN but nobody is responsible for it when they don't protect. skeeter and MGP 2 Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Seth Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 I'm confused here. Hasn't MDC always had that information anyways? I've used my SS# for as long as I can remember when purchasing tags and licenses. Coosa 1
tjm Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 there used to be a Federal law that SS# not be used for anything except SS, wonder what happened to that? Quote Your SSN will be securely stored and used in support of the Missouri Department of Social Service's child support enforcement program. So, this is to track the deadbeat Moms >>just went through the purchase steps on line to check which of my permits are still valid; they already have my SS# so this must not be a new requirement, it has been several years since I updated that file; always just give Conservation # and request the permits needed that day. Probably at least since they came out with Conservation numbers, just toss the old permit down and say use this.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 I've always used my driver's license # to buy them. skeeter 1
ollie Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Don't like it one bit! I saw that today as well and a lot of things ran through my mind. skeeter 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

I knew a guy that gets on this forum that has been using an ex G-Friend's G-Paw's name to have a hunting/trapping/fishing license because he has been in arrears of child support for over a decade...he has no drivers license as well, next year I guess he's screwed!....when you see people caught without a license 90% its because they can't get one for this reason and when the CO looks at ID they are busted..... MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 30, 2018 Author Root Admin Posted May 30, 2018 Thing is that when people come from out of state on vacation and find out that 1. They need a boating license to operate a boat (born after 1984) or 2. Need a SS# to get a license to fish - they probably aren't going to know ahead of time and who carries their kid's SS# on vacation? skeeter 1
