Kimbering Docks?

Recommended Posts

So we were around the houseboats yesterday throwing spoons and saw the sign that says no fishing within 50ft.  Is than an actual thing that can be regulated or is it more to detour fisherman from throwing baits toward 300K boats?   Either way Ketchup and i smoked some nice ones out from under some houseboats.

I can’t fathom it being enforceable if real. Lake of the ozarks would basically become a very small place to fish

ropes are a better deterrent than a sign to me, especially the frayed braided poly rope 😖

The dock at harbor marina at pomme de terre has a sign like that too. I was fishing there during a tournament back in May and they guy came out and gave me all kinds of grief. He threatened to call the water patrol on me. I was pretty sure that he couldn’t say where I could or couldn’t have my boat and where I could or couldn’t fish as long as I wasn’t on his dock, but I was getting ready to leave anyway. So I left.

Later that week I called the water patrol to see what they had to say about it and they confirmed what I already thought I knew. They can control who gets on their dock, but they cannot regulate who fishes around their dock. As long as you are in public waters, you are good.

Call the water patrol to confirm if you wish.

Do you want somebody throwing stuff at your house?   Maybe it's not enforceable but a little respect never hurts. Shame on some people

As the owner of a boat on a lift, if you can cast in there, go for it. If u can’t, practice. I don’t own the lake and I choose to leave property on it. If you’re questioning casting accuracy, I in no way harm property pitching docks. Most that aren’t comfortable with their skills forego the throw to save their own lures

To the specific question about a house, that’s a poor example.  I own mine and all the land around it. You would have to trespass to reach it with a throw or cast.

Shame on people pretending to own public water.

That’s like somebody buying a house on a golf course; then complain about their house getting hit with golfballs. Maybe those folks living on a golf course should post signs saying, ‘No golfing within 500 yards’. Pretty absurd.

Public water is just that, public. If we obey all those stupid signs and buoys people put out, trying to prohibit use of public water; half the lake will eventually end up off limits.

If these dock and slip owners want to catch someone damaging their property; then they need to make the effort to catch them. Don’t paint all anglers with such a broad brush. Some of us show absolute respect for the water, fellow boaters, etc.

And yes; our family owned lakefront property for years, with a dock, etc. Sure we would find lures snagged on things they shouldn’t be, it stinks; but it kinda comes with the territory. I wish I had such problems to worry about now. Life must be pretty darn good when you have to complain about someone fishing your dock or slip........sheesh!

If you're talking about POK or the other marinas, it was a district specific Corps deal with the marina restrictions. They were off limits on Little Rock district lakes.

That said, I saw a bunch of boats flipping and drop shotting the big docks last week. Not sure if something changed, or if they were just tourists. Or maybe just didn't care.

Yes, it’s an actual law and it applies all the time. Go to webboutdoors.com and look up Corps of Engineers Commercial Zone Off Limits. There are detailed maps of every such zone on Table Rock Lake.

Bass fishermen get a bad enough rap already that we don’t need further scorn caused by those who won’t abide by the rules.

Interesting. Any idea where someone can find more information about that other than on the webboutdoors.com website? Specifically, the maps, but for other lakes?
