"Phil Lilley" is a cinch of a screen name, but many of them here leave me scratching my head. Including friends and/or long-time posters. So -- who'd like to 'splain their screen name?

I'll start: ness is the start of my long, hard to spell, German last name. I've been called ness since the mid-70's, and people just seem to come up with it on their own, because not everyone who says it was around back then.

Be fishin'. As in "I be fishing", "We be fishing", or the existential "BE Fishing".

Might as well explain avatars too. Mine's a spring peeper, which I listen for on the first few warm Feb-March evenings to know when to gather some creek minners for an offering to Walter.

I can't dance like I used to.

"Johnsfolly" - John is my first name and Folly represents those activities that I obsess about that have no or little practical importance other than to myself. Except fishing of course which is important to everyone :D!

Good point. Subject updated.

My avatar is Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, who still cracks me up.

I've been on the forum forever and back then it was primarily for Taney.  There was always a controversy about fishing or snagging in the outlets especially in the fall.  So I just used snagged in outlet 3 to pay homage to the ongoing controversy.  Used number 3 because if I used number 2....well you know, number two.   Back then the group was so small and I never thought it would get this big I didn't even capitalize the first letters.  Wish I would've though.

Fly for fly fishing, smallie for smallmouth. Fly fishing for smallmouth. Which I don't do enough of any more.

Avatar is a popper I did for a flyswap.

I'd be willing to change my name to The Man, King, Your Majesty, or just plain Ronnie. Which is what it should have been from the beginning.

I've worked at the same place a looooong time. Way back when we first got e-mail there were about 3 or 4 of us that got e-mail accounts to start with. There was no naming protocol then so when the (one) IT guy asked me what my e-mail name should be I just said 'ness'. And 20+ years later it's still in the system and works, although I never use it.

Years ago, I had a summertime job with a plumber.  The crew I worked with were HUGE Tombstone fans.  Everyone had nicknames.  They started calling me "Doc" as in Doc Holiday.   My first name is Jason and years later friends combined it can called me "J-Doc".  It just kinda stuck.

I'm not a doctor.

But I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express once...........so......
