I'm pretty sure that is the understanding of alot of people around here.  I have several aquantances that supply crappie for giant monthly fish frys at their Church and at VFW club functions.   It's a safe assumption that they are not doing that in adherence to the wildlife code of Missouri.  Numerous police and county lawmen are members of the church's though.....so they need not worry about a sting.

Proof that a blind eye is turned when it benefits the proper group of folks.

Many years ago we used to go to a VFW place down the road from us for fish once a week because the people running it lived in our neighborhood. They had a sign listing prices for the different meals and also for different fish. The sign said cod fish dinner x amount, walleye x amount, crappie X amount, and catfish.x amount, ( i don't remember all the prices). I asked my neighbor one time where they get all the different kinds of fish and he looked around and kind of whispered, it's all the same. people can't tell the difference and we have never have anyone complain.

I can believe that. Almost all fish tastes like the breading you use and the oil you fry in. The ones that don't are the ones that people describe as tasting too  fishy.

Duane may have to slow down on the lure painting craftsman trade some. Glad I got mine before the otter craze hit. I can see it now he will hang out his shingle sign "Duckys otter tours get your tickets in the Lilleys Landing office"

I have to come clean on something and haters are going to hate. Otters have been here long before we were. They need a place too. Damage yes but not as much as deer, raccoons, coyote, squirrels, HUMANS  etc. do annually. If you are effected by the otter consider yourself in the minority.  I wish i could find my t-shirt I got when I belonged to the Missouri trappers association. It said "Bring them back to Missouri" . It probably got buried or thrown away by Mrs. BilletHead. :) I can still remember the first three encounters with them. Now it is like hey look and otter. I have friends who have trapped them and when not caught in a conibear killer type trap they can be real mean. They are just a giant supersized weasel.

I remember releasing Otters in the '80's asking, When would we be able to Trap them? Being told oh they are just a novelty never be enough to Trap.

Remember Guys in the '70's from Boonville bringing back Ice Chest full of Trout from Taney saying they drive all that way to catch Trout they were bringing enough back but the same Guy got stopped passing on a hill, never paid his Ticket and lost his License for a year.

Remember booking the Missouri Trappers Assoc, for a fishing club meeting to talk Otters...The MTA folks were really nice, but tough as you will ever find. They had No appreciation for releasing live otters before they were allowed to kill them.  Said you would win in the end, but the Otters would get some flesh, destroy your waders, etc during a live release. Vile little critters!

No limit on otters now, for trappers. Still can't hunt them.
