You can do that yourself FW and safely. Delmar Loop in U City is pretty tame, you could see some of that on foot and have a great time. Take an Uber north of there if you want to see the hood. The hood is pretty safe for white guys in suits during business hours. Guess the hood residents figure you are an attorney or insurance guy. Show up casual, you are a mark, there to buy dope. Do not linger.

Went to mercy high school in the 70,s.   Right where G is talking about. Rode the public bus down midland to olive and Pennsylvania. The real deal is north St. Louis. If you drive I’ll show you all you want.   Free!

I'll gladly take some city folk to see some elk, non-typical whitetail, and 3 lb. Brook trout, if they'll take me to see real gang-bangers, homeless wino's sleeping on park benches, and a transvestite street walking hooker.    I haven't witnessed any of those since Orlando.

There is an intersection in St Louis city called Grand and Gravois there is a Schnucks there. Schnucks is our local grocery store it's been about 2 or 3 hours there and you will see all of that and more. We have Lone Oak Park which has elk, Whitetail, turkey and bison amongst a lots of other wildlife. We also have the st. Louis Zoo and Grant's Farm which has every animal that I desire to see caged. This city boy will take a ride on the boat any day though.

One of the things I love about Colorado is seeing the elk way up in the mountains.

Seriously, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve about 1-1/2 hours west of KC is very cool. Bison were reintroduced there a number of years ago.

Or just drive down to Ponca, pull over and just watch them for free.

Prairie State Park in Lamar MO have bison ranging throughout the park and elk in a smaller section. We have seen prairie chickens booming on their leks down there 15+ years ago. Can't find them there now .
