jdmidwest Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 That is why they call it a suspension bridge. Just what the engineers had intended. dan hufferd 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 15, 2018 Author Posted October 15, 2018 I dont know how much a bus like that weighs, but im sure its more than the 10 ton weight limit of the bridge, fill it full of passengers and luggage and im sure it over double
fishinwrench Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Awe, if it's rated for 10 it's good for 25 at least. dan hufferd and tjm 1 1
Devan S. Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 One is going to assume they came off HWY 62. In which case they came down a very small 2 lane curvy road, If they continue on 187 they have more of the same with another small bridge crossing. IF they go out through Holiday Island they are headed up and down and back and forth for another 5-10 miles which begs where are they going and why did their GPS take them that way? Not a lot of decent places to turn around once they got off the highway. Still begs the question of WHY?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I thought I was getting a shot at a new order. fishinwrench 1

I've seen a few deflection test's on bridge material. While it's Impossible to tell from the video I've never seen one deflect that much. This is a spud barge crane access ramp we fabricated out of 100 KSI min yield steel. It's been a few years but I think they are rated at 200,000 pounds each and I think these counter weight billets weighed 350,000 for this test. Greasy B 1
Gavin Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 That looks like a 45 or 57' bus...probably in the 20 ton range...They could have killed someone.
Stump bumper Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 If you can get the plates of that bus someone needs to inform Highway patrol, that is a DOT violation that needs reported.
