Champ188 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Missouri Highway Patrol website lists regatta permits for 705 boats total tomorrow. And here we are in midspawn. And yet, MDC won’t even consider stocking bass into TR. Sooooo many bedding fish gonna get plucked and moved around. Can’t be good for the fishery. fishinwrench, evilcatfish, Ellros and 12 others 7 4 4

I see, strange the things people say and how it changes the language over time. So, the anglers want this and are OK with the damage done to their fishery? They are adults and responsible for their own actions? They know that the spawn is happening and they are deliberately attempting to disrupt it. I think insanity would be stocking any fish in a water that could be self-sustaining if not abused by the users. I guess the alternative for MDC would be to close the season on the lakes til spawn is over. If they allow one boat to fish they must allow all boats to fish, eh? buddygr53 1
Quillback Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 It's that time of year. Basscat tourney on Beaver this weekend, I think they fish Thursday - Saturday, I was out on Beaver yesterday up in the dam area and I have never seen so many bass boats in that area of the lake. mixermarkb 1
Old plug Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I flat refuse to take a bass off the bed. That is what needs to be addressed. Of course it will not be. You have all these greedy business men who do not care to protect anything but the size of there wallet. In Missouri the legislature is really nothing more Than a bunch of running dogs doing their bidding. After all of the hull a blew about sports fishing that has been pushed by this group that preys on the little guy like leaches with there prices and glorification of what was a simple peaceful sport. What cn you expect. They make a mess out most of our lakes every weekend. I might be down there. Have to check my calendar. But I will not be fishing. I have a good friend doing a weekend gig at Silver Dollar city this weekend are next. I would much rather watch them than The overrunning of what was a fine area.

Stocking would be a waste of money for a lake the size of this one I'd think. Ketchup 1
liphunter Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 What we need is for a Gofundme account for bass. Slip the money into any of a number of honest politicians (lol) pockets, and poof, instant tourney limits. They are here to serve for proper compensation. And yes MDC does at some level answer to politicians,,, Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Old plug Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I do not care about the stocking. If things were in balance there would be no need for stocking. Things are not in balance. As far as the Legislature goes they have power to oversee the Government departments. And will exercise that power in the back halls ,offices and any place else they can have in private for them do the bidding of their financial supporters. So you see the legislature has a lot to do with what you may not think they do. Take a ride to Jeff City sometime and go into the halls in back of the house and senate. Use to be it was always filled with people serving food from locale restaurants paid for by supports and lobbyist who of course are big part of what comes to be it policy or law. skeeter and liphunter 2

Years ago, MDC recognized the need for regulating the bed-jerkers on Missouri Streams and Rivers and wisely instituted a catch & release policy on those waters during the Bass Spawn season. Very obviously, that same need is now present on the State's Reservoirs due to incredibly increasing fishing pressure and MDC can easily "fix" this by correctly extending the same catch & immediate release regulations that they have wisely placed on moving waters to the State's Lakes. MDC would not be the first State in the U.S. to have done this and there must be some kind of monetary pressure on them since they are failing to recognize this very important need. Like all the knee-jerk, reactionary goofs in all levels of Government, it appears things will have to reach a crisis level first before they take action. liphunter, gurzik, vernon and 2 others 3 2
