What part of the lake would you fish?

Where would you fish tomorrow? I'm headed out again in the morning to try for some crappie. If you where going out tomorrow what part of the lake would you go and why? I'm bound and determined to figure out how to catch fish on this lake lol. I'm thinking about trying the googer Creek area

If I were going to fish for crappie the part of the lake wouldn't matter.   A red stick bait with  30 second fuse will work anywhere.   In other words I don't have any idea how or where to catch them.

Fish north banks, will be cold in the am 40... fish deeper about 12 foot slow crawl chartreuse and black jigs on 4lbs line feathers if you can get them tip with minnows 

don't be afraid to use 8th oz

bluff banks with slides out of the north wind will be best

Had a very cold and tough day up in Sons Creek. Only ended up with seven crappie.  The water is shaping up pretty nicely, stained but not dirty way up the creek. —   Based on the reports I’m reading for crappie I would go down and launch out of state park and fish main lake, it seems like the crappie are pretty hot on that end of the lake right now. It’s going to be very cold again tomorrow so good luck!

I do not have a clue about crappie as I can barely ever even catch a bass. But if you could target a sandy shallow bank with 15' or less of water with proximity to a deep channel ledge or swing you should hit a bonanza. Look for small chunk rock easy to tail sweep  into a bed with proximity to deep water.  Of course timber in the area is a plus.

I have caught several dozen big crappie this spring by accident.

Remember they will not be spawning on main lake points but in the shallow nooks coves just around the corner. Just like bass and earlier this year the walleye they are looking for a quiet pea rock bay to make hay!.

Hey Lifes2short..

Your fist pic gave me an idea!

I have an ironing board gathering dust in the laundry room and evidently it could be re-purposed as a portable fish cleaning station.

Squatting down to fillet fish isn't as easy as it used to be (the ground has gotten farther away the last few years) and that brings the

work up to a comfortable level. Besides, filleting a day's catch has to be more enjoyable than ironing useless dress shirts!

any thoughts on night fishing for crappie right now?  never used lights or fished on stockton at night but planning on going tonight and breaking in a new light.  prob look for same type of area I would fish during the day, something like freefallin described.  

 

Just got this light off amazon.  seems bright.  I put a bead of silicone around the caps and the wire where it goes into the tube.

I’m right there with you Old Guy, just can’t squat & fillet like I used to.  I’ve been using the ironing board for years and just mounted a 2x6 to it. I also need to get a brush tied to the board to help scrub it off when I’m finished.

I was out yesterday and it was cold. The fishing was fair again as we did come home with 20 crappie and 1 walleye. Most were caught in the mutton creek cove out of the wind and everyone of them was caught pulling #6 bright colored flicker shads. We were in water 12-17 foot trolling  very slowly. The bite was better the slower we went. Not sure this is gonna help anyone but that's what we found
