shark bait Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Last night I hit a boat that had no lights on just out from the eagle rock marina. My buddy had pointed out a boat by the bridge with no light on and next thing I know we hit something. It was another boat with no lights. They had some neck and back injuries and we taken in ambulance. I don't know if they were sitting still or idling. It scared the crap out of us! We are fortunate. It could have been a lot worse. I was doing about 45 or 50. Be careful out there folks. Too many don't use their lights at night. Sore Thumbs, dan hufferd, snagged in outlet 3 and 2 others 1 4 Becky B
LD Fisher Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 You didn't say if the two of you were ok?? people just don't get it, I would bet that the boat that caught fire at the Kings River Marina didn't run his blower or it wasn't working at least no deaths, only injuries, .................. some only learn from the school of hard knocks! tho1mas 1
*T* Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Not to excuse those using no running lights, but isn’t there a 30 mph speed limit at night on Table Rock? terryj1024, Royal Blue and magicwormman 3 "Water is the driving force of all Nature." -Leonardo da Vinci

MoCarp Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Light violations have been on the coast guard agenda this year because of events just like this MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MoCarp Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Bowfishing spotlights are not legal if the boat is MOVING! https://www.dco.uscg.mil/Portals/9/DCO Documents/5p/CG-5PC/INV/Alerts/1015.pdf merc1997 Bo and skeeter 1 1 MONKEYS? what monkeys?
fishinwrench Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Glad you guys are all ok, but if something the size of a boat is in front of you.....and you can't see it.....then WTF were you doing moving at anything above idle speed? There could be anything out there adrift, and you can't depend on everything (logs, docks, trees, some kid on a inner tube, ect.) having lights on it for your convenience. There are people out there running down the lake at night with their eyes on a glowing GPS screen. I have to assume it's those people whose kids are the ones eating Tide pods. 🙄 CarpSlayer 1
MoCarp Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Some recent high profile drownings have show a need of better nighttime boating regulations enforcement. Lawsuits in many areas are forcing states hands on this, I think Missouri water patrol is part of the state highway patrol is tasked with that, however I saw where the coastguard is or has purchased more boats for inland waters and hiring more people, seems that many lakes/ rivers are the wild West in crimes...boat chop shops, drugs, lake home invasion....🎵 HUH ! Bad boys bad boys whatcha gonna do when the come for you ...🎶 MONKEYS? what monkeys?
