Terrierman Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 I saw drone racing on TV the other day while waiting for an oil change. I've also seen people win real money playing video games. What has our world come to. It's all not real. None of it. I feel sorry for our children and grandchildren. At least most of them. We need to keep our kids in touch with the real world. Somehow, some way.
Devan S. Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 I watch drone racing from time to time on TV. Pretty neat actually. snagged in outlet 3 and Johnsfolly 2

Johnsfolly Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 I have watched it as well. some of those courses are awesome. To Ricks' point that is a live video game. Just look at the pilot's faces when they crash their drone.

Just like it is hard to believe that professional video game players exist, it is equally mind-boggling that there are professional fishermen and professional, baseball, football, basketball, etc. players. Video gaming is the next new sport and it is becoming BIG business. There is some crazy money being made in video gaming, both competitively and just by playing and videoing it then posting to YouTube.
fishinwrench Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 A retired chief of police from some town in NY makes 3k a month doing a Facebook Live 10 minute conversation from the front seat of his car about various things in the news every day, and then putting it on YT. He probably made about 5k just rattling on about the Jeffery Epstein drama. And then, according to my wife's friend, there is some gal that shares videos of stuff that her pet ferret does....and was recently able to quit her full time job at a pharmacy. Nobody has a reason to live broke anymore. 🙂👍 Terrierman 1
Gavin Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Have no clue about civilian drones. The military has been playing with then for 30 years. Eye in the sky, and some payload if needed. Hellfire rockets are small and they pack a punch.
Quillback Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 You would think drones and UAV's would be the wave of the future for the military. With F-35's at $100 million each and the new Raider B-21 bomber estimated at $530 million each soon to start production (and you know the cost will increase), seems it would be lot less expensive to develop UAV's capable of handling air combat instead of these incredibly expensive manned aircraft.
