Quillback Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Having nothing better to do, took a ride down to the dam to see what was going on. All the floodgates are open. There's a park/picnic area that runs along the road that goes over the dam. The gates to the park are closed, but there is a place to park at one of the entrances with room for three vehicles. I parked there and took a rod with me down to the bank. There was a fellow fishing there, tossing a swimbait and he had a 15 lb. striper on a stringer. I threw a Keitech around for about 10 casts, but the wind was blowing about 20 MPH and it was cold, I like to fish, but not that much. However if anyone is looking for bank access, there's probably about a mile of it in that area. If the entrance to the park is full or closed, there are places nearby where you can park off the side of the road and walk a little ways to fish. There's obviously some stripers in the area, they aren't loners, and I bet a walleye or two, with some smallies and spots. There's some bank access to the river below the dam even with the high water. Daryk Campbell Sr, WoundedOne, Lance34 and 4 others 6 1

I have been stuck doing accounting clean up for the last couple of days that should have been done 4 to 5 months ago and by someone else. Oh and merit, which this year is like squeezing blood from a turnip. I have been getting on OAF as a release to keep from screaming at the walls. A bunch of our clients have settled into their working from home deal. So our email traffic jumped considerably since Weds. So I got that going for me as well . I will say that having my staff on rotating schedules for working in the office and at home sure makes it quiet. Enough of a rant. Keep us posted on what's going on by you Jeff. Also post photos if you do fish and hang a striper. I am going to try fishing again this evening and try to bring home some crappie and/or bluegill just to feel more prepared. Hey buddy, I hear you on the paperwork, always was the worst part of any job I had. As far as prepared - I kept a few of the hybrids I caught a couple of days ago, and I may go get some redworms next week and see if I can add some bluegill to the stash. And IMO, bluegill are better eating than hybrids. That being said, I can eat hybrids, white bass, and stripers (they all taste about the same), and enjoy them. Johnsfolly Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 @Quillback you got me thinking of fresh fish. After work I took Livie to a small pond near us. Hoping to catch a few bluegill and crappie. Livie had the bluegill mojo landing about a half dozen quickly but didn't catch any bluegill over 8 inches to keep. Livie caught a couple of golden shiners and a largemouth as well as two crappie. One was 10 inches her largest caught in MD. I only caught black crappie all 8 to 10 inches using a white and chartreuse trout magnet under a float. Kept a few for a dinner this weekend. Not a @Lance34 hand full of crappie but enough for us three😀. Sore Thumbs, Daryk Campbell Sr, nomolites and 3 others 6
Quillback Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 I bet those crappie are tasty! Wish we had them in good numbers here in the Bella Vista lakes, there's a few, but not enough for me to spend a day targeting them. Tons of bluegill and bass however. Johnsfolly and Lance34 2

Johnsfolly Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 @Daryk Campbell Sr I can grow a decent beard. My wife hates it. Makes me look too much like my brother and that's not a good thing for her😌. Last real beard was my playoff beard when the Penguins last won the Stanley Cup s few years ago. I know that it was my beard that helped them win👍 Lance34, WoundedOne, Terrierman and 1 other 2 2
