bobby b. Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Yesterday (Saturday) looked like Memorial Day at the lower end. I started scooping up trash out of the water as I drove but gave up.  I have not seen a piece of floating trash all winter until now. Waiting for Fall/Winter already? đ Bobby snagged in outlet 3, Dock-in-it, crazy4fishin and 5 others 7 1
vernon Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 đ¤Śââď¸ People need to get back to work! Obviously for way more and important reasons than to get them off OUR lake but that sure wouldn't be a bad side benefit! And Thursday wouldn't be a bad day to start.... big c 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."  George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent."  Me.

Bill Babler Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Couple of things in play. With the pandemic right now the folks that are not working and the kids that are not in school are using some of that time for early vacation. Yes folks still have some money. Talked to the neighbor and she rents VRBO'S and said its great right now, the best April and May she has ever had. Folks are renting entire houses on the lake and just having a blast. People doing this don't come in contact with a lot of other folks outside groceries and gas and they would have to do the same thing in the city and feel this is far more safe and on top of that FUN. That is not to even mention the people with lake homes that are also enjoying the extended leave or can work from their lake cabin. Lake of the Ozarks was from what I heard yesterday dangerous. As many as 4th. of July and possibly more. It is of course surrounded by lake homes and boats that we pretty much never see down here. Good friend has a home at the 40 mile mark right on the lake. It is a big house and both his son and daughter have their families there and have been there for the past 3 weeks. They are school teachers and are working and enjoying themselves from the lake, and not missing a single check. He and his wife are also there and said yesterday was the most boat traffic he has seen and he has lived there since 1968. That's not even the busy end. GNSfishing Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 I'm a little concerned that with the influx of people here with the virus still floating around and with our very low rate of infections here in Stone and Taney counties we could see an increase in cases and with a lot of our local retired residents with health conditions that put us in the high risk category could become a problem here..... skeeter, Daryk Campbell Sr and bobby b. 1 1 1

dtrs5kprs Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Don't know about the lower end, but Kimberling to Joe Bald was a genuine spectacle. We headed back through it around 130pm, and hoo boy, it was not safe. Honestly, we all make faces about the ballast boats and cruisers, but the dadgum pontoons just piddling along fast enough to keep you from running through some of it are a menace. mixermarkb and vernon 2

There is nothing quite and unpredictable as your average pontoon boat. You never know if they are gonna obey the rules of the road or cut right across you and over a point in inches of water! God forbid there be more than one of them headed in your general direction!! I can't tell you how many times I've just had to drop off plane in confusion... vernon Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 One day last year we were heading up lake from Indian Point and when we got to the Kimberling bridge it looked like the entire Spanish Armada was heading right towards us (in addition to all of the "usual" wave runner, bass boat, cruiser and ski boat traffic). I just peeled straight left and headed for the bank and sat there until the circus moved past us. Had to have been at least 25 of 'em running almost in some sort of Hell's Angels formation! All going the exact same water plowing speed with the wave runners zigzagging in and out jumping the wakes as they went. Reminiscent of the harbor scene in Caddyshack! You guys are doing some serious damage to my excitement and anticipation levels.......đŹ dtrs5kprs 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."  George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent."  Me.
