In better news, we stopped at Harter House in Springfield on the way down and was able to secure an ample supply of Boston burger, chicken  wings and jumbo shrimp 🍤 so we’re all set in that department.

The Ultrex cable is great.  Only problem you have to be a Pro-Linebacker to lift the durn thing out of the water.  If you tried to fish the last few days in this wind without spot lock you were really working.

Considering lifting the mojo around midweek.

Kinda depends on how nice everybody is between now and then as well as my mostly unpredictable mood swings!

Typically five or six straight days of misery is adequate to appease my masochistic side. 🧟‍♂️

Bill you keep saying how hard the Ultrex is to lift , mine comes up with ease and I have the 60” shaft and I’m no linebacker.

You are very lucky. I've been in a boat with 50 of them and they all lift and deploy hard.  Mine, I have to pull and snap the release pin and then pick up the motor head hanging onto the pull cord to deploy it.  To pick it up I have to get both feet set in front of it and again snap the locking pin free and then really lean back to lift it into the boat.  I have had Rotor Cuff Surgery and am not as strong as I once was however it is very heavy for me.

I have had it up to Marine Repair center for some issues and always address the hard deploy and lift and Scott lifted it and says, Yep that is about as good as it gets.

My Ultrex weighs 89 lbs

MG. new Pro Tour weighs 60 lbs.

Lowrance  weighs 65 lbs. 

Garmin weighs 75 lbs.

All motors are the same configuration.

The only one I have not gotten to retract and deploy is the Lowrance, the Garmin and Pro Tour when you snap the pin to release on deploy start raising to assist you in deployment and when you again snap the pin to retract they pretty much lift themselves with little or no effort from the operator.

The sheer weight of the Ultrex is as much as 30 pounds heaver than the Motor Guide and 14 pounds heaver than the Garmin.

@Bill Babler do you know of any aftermarket assist shocks for them?   I’ve see them for truck tailgates.  Or maybe your shock is bad?

That would suck as many times as you have to do it over the course of a year.

As for me, I guess I got lucky too (pretty unusual occurrence) cause I don’t notice a lick of difference between stowing and deploying my Ultrex and the Fortrex that it replaced.

Hey Bill I just reread your post and something has got to be wrong.

I can honest to gosh deploy, retrieve and stow mine easily with one hand while seated. 

Almost had Mark take a video today to post to demonstrate but didn’t get around to it. 
 
I’m a little bigger than you but at 67 I ain’t bench pressing no houses these days but mine releases and raises in both directions without any extra effort at all.
