ness Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 I find the Amish very interesting. They’re very family and community oriented. They’re peaceful and forgiving people from everything I’ve read. A friend of mine who has spent a short period of time in their community confirms this. I’ve had a couple interactions with them and they’ve been pleasant but they seem to be a bit standoffish. Certainly nothing to be critical of. Take some time to understand them and I suspect you’ll find they’re pretty much like the rest of us in most important respects. Yep, I have quite a few Amish customers, great people to deal with and their kids are the most well behaved pleasant children to be around. We always threaten our kids with "trading them to a nice Amish family" whenever they start acting like jackasses. ColdWaterFshr, mixermarkb, Terrierman and 2 others 2 3

He built buggies and bought all his paint supplies from us. Great guy, great family. ness and BilletHead 2

Beware of "cheap" pole barns. Non engineered building tend to squash whats in them under a ice load or blow away easy in the wind. Make sure they have engineer approval. Make sure they have engineer approval. has to be engineered to pass greene county code. theres a bunch of extra stuff that isnt standard - trusses have to be bolted to poles, gravel in bottom of post hole, concrete around pole, idk what all else. itll have to be permitted and inspected and whoever builds it will have to make sure that it passes all the necessary inspections. but yeah, i hear ya. good lookin out.
jdmidwest Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 That's a good thing, over here, only the counties around St. Louis inspect construction outside city limits. Lots of rinky dink buildings go down every year. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
