I am going to confit turkey thighs, use the turkey fat to pan roast root veg (carrots, potatoes, parsnip, rutabaga) and serve with a tart arugula mandarin orange salad. The only traditional carry over will be dressing and queso. The wife would put me out on the porch if I did not make her dressing and queso. No green bean casserole! nomolites, Johnsfolly and Seth 2 1

rps Posted November 17, 2020 Author Posted November 17, 2020 Spanakopita cups as a appetizer, and mini tart fudge, pumpkin, or cranberry curd as dessert.

fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 No changes here because of FEAR. Same crew, same meal. I look forward to it every year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Turkey, dressing, mashed taters, gravy, corn casserole, green bean casserole, canned cranberry jelly, deviled eggs, dinner rolls, Iced tea. 👍 Then... Pumpkin pie, Apple pie, and some kinda crap my wife calls "Lucinda salad" that I've never even tasted (looks like armadillo puke). Oh....and sweet potatoes with marshmallows melted on top, which I also never touch.....but they do smell good when in the oven. rps, Mitch f and snagged in outlet 3 2 1
Flysmallie Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Some changes here, because of INTELLIGENCE. Nah really just jacking with Wrench. Our gathering will be much smaller. Older kids will be with their boyfriends on Thanksgiving Day. That just leaves the Queen, Princess III, and I. I think we are making pizza. Then the Queen will demand a traditional fare on Saturday when all can make it. But still a lot of them are not coming. fishinwrench 1
ness Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Made the decision to cancel the already toned-down get together for Thursday. Too many 20-somethings in contact with too many other 20-somethings in our family. We're going to do a brisket, a couple sides and a couple pies and make deliveries to folks on Wednesday. Then either a Zoom or at least a conference call on turkey day. For ourselves, we bought a smallish turkey breast that I'll roast and do some mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, corn casserole etc. The traditional stuff that's largely a nod to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that are no longer with us. Gavin Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Will have a traditional T-day dinner while camping on Friday or Saturday, but w/o the rest of our usual T-day camp group. Turkey, homemade mashed, homemade sage dressing, fresh green beans, giblet gravy, and canned cranberries (both ways). Have done a few cranberries recipes but the girls demand Ocean Spray. fishinwrench Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Sugarbritches just headed off to the grocery store to collect Turkey-day fixin's. I'd be ecstatic.... except for the fact that she snatched $250 out of my cash box on her way out the door. 😳 Seriously??? Couldn't we have that meal CATERED for that price? Holy MF'er ! Deadstream 1
