Near catastrophy and taking my boy fishing 12/19/2020

I promised Jack I would take him fishing saturday since he could not come to jigfest.  We stayed in the bunklodge at Riley's friday night, and now Jack wants to move there lol.  I made some kolaches with jalapeno/cheese smoked sausage which were a hit.

We made 2-3 drifts below buffalo shoals, and caught mainly small browns, on olive/ginger jigs, then fished around the island and caught a few more.

After some mandatory exploration time on the island, we fished a little more then went around the other side of the island(I did not get hung up this time!).  About this time Jack decided he had fished enough and was ready to leave.  About 300 yards from the ramp I noticed a small bit of smoke and stopped to open the battery compartment and was greeted with acrid smoke pouring out.  we beached the boat and got it on the trailer(felt like it took forever) and found my lithium starting battery had an internal short which caused nuclear meltdown.  Too much excitement for one day.20201219_091852.jpg20201219_090416.jpg20201219_084046.jpg20201219_134013.jpg

I hope you are able to get the battery replaced under warranty. I have heard of multiple lithium’s going nuclear. I’m glad you had an ok outcome,

I appreciate you taking your boy fishing,

Dang Cody pretty scary but glad it worked out like it did. I'm liking your fishing partner. I know you realize how you are getting him started will pay off because he will be taking you in your golden years!

He loves to fish, just can't do it for very long without catching anything yet.  Next week we are going to texas for a week and he will love it there.

Lithium had that problem in laptops, I guess the same on a bigger, 12 v scale.  Guess the tree huggers will just have to learn to accept the lead for what it is, useful in many applications.
