Steel leader recommendation

It's not just their teeth that will destroy your line. I started using braid and it works just fine. They will destroy that marabou so make sure to take a bunch. And the spoon suggestion is a good one. Everything out there likes a spoon.

Sand fleas on a circle hook.  Otherwise SPOON!  3/8 jig with a curly tail grub works too.  Flukes too.

We just stop at Walmart when we get there and buy a plastic sand flea rake and bucket.  Few bucks.  Kids love to harvest them.  I enjoy it myself.

Is that a thing? I am ok with low cost and questionable quality if I will have rare chance to use it

Absolutely.

I agree with all of the above.  Steel only if needed.  Circle hooks rule and everything eats shrimp.  Do not surf fish with a Zip lock bag of shrimp in your swim suit.
