FishnDave Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Awesome fish! 👍 A buddy caught this one on a spoon in Saylorville Lake, Iowa, on July 25, 2016. He's a big guy... 6'-7"-ish? This fish bottomed out his scale....so he took good measurements before releasing it. It was calculated easily into the 70+ lb range. A coworker and his brother caught one in the Des Moines River ~35+ years ago...on a bank line with bait... that was weighed at a bait shop at 108 lbs. Much bigger than the Iowa State Record, but at the time it didn't count if caught on a bank line. He showed me the old faded newspaper article / picture....HUGE! I wish I'd taken a picture of that! dtrs5kprs, Quillback, fishinwrench and 3 others 6

One of the ditches on the Bucksaw side of the bridge at Long Shoal. Had one around 15# on a Ned in 2013 or 14. Best I've done is one bout that size, out of a deep cedar on a shaky head., w/7lb test. dtrs5kprs and FishnDave 2
Members Wesley Posted February 4, 2021 Members Posted February 4, 2021 Over the last 10 years I have caught 5-6 over 20. Using rattle traps. One on a buzz bait. Worrell spinners. They will take anything flashy. Or noisy Lots of fun. Johnsfolly and dtrs5kprs 2
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Since were talking Table Rock here is mine. Not on a lure, it was a trot line but it was 37lbs. Kimberling area. If you can brave Scuba anymore on Table Rock (to busy with idiots now days) Table Rock has an excellent population of Flatheads. IT pretty awesome how many nice ones there are compared to Bull even. aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 I take it back i just went back and looked at the photo and it said 34lbs and 42 inches dtrs5kprs and Johnsfolly 2

Members Hawkfarm Posted February 4, 2021 Members Posted February 4, 2021 Nothing compared to that Iowa giant. Caught one on a spinner bait on an inside point right after dark at LO in early April in the late 70’s. Buried a 50 lb scale so no accurate weight. Towed the boat for quite a ways and wouldn’t fit in the net. 18 pounder on a crappie jig and 6 lb test fishing for walleye below Lake Perry dam in KS. FishnDave, Johnsfolly and dtrs5kprs 3
Members Brennan Posted February 4, 2021 Members Posted February 4, 2021 Caught one 35 pounds on a crappie jig, ultralight and 6lb line below Lake Perry in the 80’s. I was just a kid and that was the fight of my life. Also caught huge long nosed gar that jumped like sailfish, and a stringer of 4 walleye weighing over 40 lbs. I dreamed of that spillway most nights. Great memories with my dad. On TR, I’ve caught a couple around 5 pounds or so on a jig or Ned rig. Speaking of oddball catches while fishing for bass, I’ve caught 2 musky out of LOZ in the Warsaw area throwing a squarebill and a spinnerbait around docks. Didn’t weigh them, but they were big (to me) probably over 15 lbs a piece.
