Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 16, 2021 Root Admin Posted February 16, 2021 -18 on my truck dash this morning at 7 am. It's always colder down here in the valley. Taney's water is down from 43 to 40. Shad don't typically come through the turbines unless they're cranking it... but this isn't typical. I'll yell from the rooftops if we see any. magicwormman 1

The old timers (meaning having lived here much longer than me) tell me that they have never seen this before here. These are the last two docks on the north end of North Indian Creek if you know the area. Water depth is 30 ft. at those buoys. Not sure if this is Global Warming or a Polar Vortex but I'm sure the weather men have a weather b____. (Don't want to censored). I could stand on the ice under the dock. BEAUTIFUL. Bobby Thanks for the pic. I talked to someone that lives in Eagle Rock, he can see the cove where Roaring Rive comes in and that cove looks to be frozen over too.
Bill Babler Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Thanks Phil. South East side of the house is dripping and temp is 16 degree. North West side is still 8 and no drips http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Broken ice all around from the swimming area down to the submerged island/point across from RR. Upstream looked solid frozen. Past the mouth of RR looked wet. 3 hours later and a lot more wet than frozen. That sun is working it over good. magicwormman and Quillback 2

Too much specialized gear to buy. Little poles, ice augur, little sled to put all your ice fishing gear in, snowmobile to pull it all - it ends up being as expensive as bass fishing. Devan S. Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 I'd certainly rather get on a plane and go do it then do it here. Quillback 1

We want some but not rafts of them. 4 degree was my low at the Lodge this morning. We had 1 degree for a low yesterday. We have not seen a minus number yet. Bill, I'm curious to understand your comment above about huge kills not being good. I assumed after several years of more abundant shad and the lack of a shad kill that this might "reset the scales". I totally understand the short term effect it will have on the fishing, but personally thought it might be a good thing in the grand scheme of things.

Which would make sense. snagged in outlet 3 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
96 CHAMP Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Curious to see if the shad kill has any affect on the night spinnerbait bite in the spring.
