I've got 16 trailers in my yard right now, and I bet there isn't a single one that doesn't have an issue of some sort.

Thats so true its funny. My surge brakes quite working about the time i bought a real truck instead of a 2 door wrangler for a tow rig. I actually looked at them the other day and a lines is broke in half.   My 19ft boat doesnt really need brakes in my opinion especially behind a 3/4 ton. But behind the jeep it was a necessity

If your wheel was about to fall off you better make sure the axle isnt grooved and messed up where the bearings ride...  When mine did that it ruined my axle and i had to order a new one

Been there done that. True story.

I just read your post from back then.  I recently did a bearing search on here.  Lots of issues over the years.

You should also plan on replacing tires routinely. Like maybe every 4-5 years. Not a mileage issue.

Yep already have that in the schedule before this happened.  6-8 weeks if I need an axle...😕

I'm probably jinxing myself with this - but in all my years towing trailers of all kinds I've never had a bearing failure.  Keep them greased with full bearing buddies on boat trailers and repack others every 20,000 miles or so.

But I've had enough problems with trailer lights to make up for no bearing problems.  Dedicated ground wires help a lot but still have the occasional issue, even with LED lights.

Me either.  I only had to see ONE guy doing a trailer hub overhaul on the side of the road to know how bad it would suck.

Trailer Wiring Sucks.  Seems like every other trip something crashes.

A big blob of Dielectric grease in all of the bulb sockets, and Liquid Tape on the white wire (ground) connection and all of the butt connectors and splices.

Do that and your trailer lights will last almost forever.   The only periodic maintenance you'll need to do is to hit the plug pins occasionally with a wire brush to keep them clean.
