I'm "wise" enough to know that much of it is an act though.

Many people have a M.O. of pretending to be ignorant.  This is a trait usually inherited from ones mother.   I do it occasionally myself, I pretend to be too stupid to get dishes clean so that I am the last person whom anyone in the house wants doing the dishes.    I do this because my wife and daughters pretend to be inadequate in the brain when it comes to operating a lawn mower or weed eater.....They just don't GET IT.    

It's a head game.
