I got out of work early today and had the boat all hooked up so I hit the river about 1 pm.   I went past my first spot because the water was all muddy and went further upstream.  It was worth it, the water with a nice green color.  Caught em pretty steadily until I left cold and wet from the rain about 4:30.  Here’s 3 of the participants.  15”, 16”and nearly 18”.  As usual my pictures suck. My arm is doing ok though.  I’ll be back out tomorrow.

Nice fish.  Whats up with the black tail on the ones on the board.  Maybe the light hitting them funny?  Or some chemical dump.

Didn’t even notice till you said that.  Don’t know.  Could be I guess.  Another good reason not to eat smallies 👍

That size of SM are the most fun to catch.  Scrappers!

Why do you use your bump board backwards half the time?    Not that it matters.....but you'd give ME hell about it if I did that. 😁

I don’t like handling them too much.  It’s really just to document the catch for my notes.   And so you complain about it.   It was a fun bite on the floating worm.

I went to a different section of the river today and got there at 7:30 it was 43° and drizzling.  The first few spots I wanted to fish already had boats on them.  I ended up running about 7 miles upstream and fished my way back.
I had to skip around a couple spots with anglers on them too.   It stayed cloudy all morning and by noon the hemi powered jet boats came out so I left.  Not as good as yesterday but caught 10 or so just like these.  13-14 inches but good fighters in the current.

I never saw anyone else catch a fish and I watched them D4AF270B-6C8D-4AC3-A584-4472D5CBE67E.jpeg
carefully when I was around them.  I have to help move my daughter back from school tomorrow but I’ll go again Monday.

More black tails.

Who would have thought the rivers would be busy on this weekend.  Drove over the Castor River and there were so many campers that you could not squeeze a human between them.  My little ole home water has taken a beating over the last decade.  I don't even go there anymore.

I got out again yesterday and went way down stream.   I haven’t had much luck down there in the past and I did not have it yesterday.  Water was murky.   I caught two small spotted bass on a spinner bait n 4 hours.
I knew the fishing wouldn’t be that great it’s been cloudy or rainy for the past four days and yesterday was the first time the sun came out.   sunny bluebird skies are not the greatest day to fish after it’s been like that.
i’m headed to Taneycomo next weekend for another week down there.

I'm glad you're all healed up. 👍
