those guys crack me up....last September I ran into one of those guys right after that big brown that was caught on fly rod and posted and ultimately died.

whomever he was informed me that we shouldn't be targeting big fish "that time of year" and ultimately playing them out and killing them.

We had spinning rods with 6lb test and jerkbaits and here he is flippin a fly rod......morons.

I read that three times and the only thing I came away with is, wife skinny dipping!!!🤣

More fun than fishing 😁 it’s our new deal.  We used to do it all the time before we had kids.   They are all gone now so......    let’s get naked!!!

The kiddie pool gang is laughable at this point. I think if Marriott turned too quick Lanny would lose his head. Idoux is an idiot. Like Rick said, only a couple know how to actually fish and not snag them in the a**.

@JestersHK it was about time I got out! Only did a few hours of fishing but it felt good. I'll be down 8/16-8/23 so if you're around give me a shout.

I think Idoux is one of the admin guys for Facebook group Fly Fishing Lake Taneycomo. I called him out for always posting a picture of his wading boot with a trout out of the water and his boot in the water. It is kind of a running joke on the site and I was tired of seeing it. Apparently he didn't like it because I was banned like Trump was within 12 hours.

Oh yea I got myself kicked out for calling them out on their hypocrisy. Constantly bitching at people about taking care of the fish while they drag one down the lake and onto the rocks for a picture. They can all go suck one. Marriott tried to give me "advice" once and I just told him "eff you, pedo." He evidently didn't know I knew who he was.

It’s always been that way.  Snaggers were in the outlets for as long as I can remember.   You should’ve seen the damage they would do before the fly regulations.   Bait casters with worms on treble hooks and 12 pound test line. They also considered themselves “experts”.

Ah.... you guys should take a listen to yourselves.  Calling people idiots and eff'in people off for trying to help...

Yeah- if you only wade and fly fish, you're stuck in a handful of places on this lake and yes you'd probably become very educated in that spot.  And yes some people are proud of it but so it seems a few guys here are too.

So I'm calling this group out.  I know for a fact that Wendell and others help out a lot of people who show up at the outlets to fish, some for the first time.  I've known Wendell for over 30 years and he's nothing but a selfless, awesome angler who gives away a lot of information, on FB and in person.

It was the first place I caught a Taneycomo fish. Yes the outlet. I watched those at the steps and wanted so bad to try. Did a few times and was happy. Then I branched out. Yes I fished the outlet and will admit it. Had fun and I am sure may more of you have and even started there but may not want to admit it. I was one of those who got help from one of the regulars. It was in my infancy of the fly fishing sport. So I thank them.

Now I am and have been called a fly fishing snob. It is a badge of honor. Yes this snob has been known to stoop to a spinning or bait casting reel in times of desperation :)

I will admit that I have never caught or tried for a trout at the outlets. My first Taney trout were mostly caught at or below the boat ramp. 30 plus trout on tungsten bead midges. Was the best trout fishing at Taney still to date. I just didn't fish Taney very often.

If I fished it more probably would have fly fished the outlets. Why not. I love catching fish period. It would be even better drifting a gob of worms down through there🤣!

So you’re admitting they are more effective! Got ya! 😂😂

I always get caught up in this outlet fishing. And like I have said before, some handicap anglers that can still get to the creek, have little option. For the past several years my wife and I and a handful of anglers on this forum, fish the outlets during running water. Several on here can tell you that there is an art to fishing the outlets. Especially when most are dragging 3 flies on a 10 to 12 leader through the same 6 inch drift area, over and over.  They watch that bobber and react at the first hesitation. They do not have a clue as to whether or not, that they have a fish, the bottom, or the 3 people standing closest to them.As a fish in the gauntlet, if the left one don't get you, then the right one will. Going back to fishing in a crowd. I bet you that myself, my wife, and the others that I mentioned, can hook 5 or more fish in a row, and all are hooked in the mouth. We don't try to catch every fish in front of us, and some times we don't catch 5 fish.

But, those five fish might weight a total of 20 lbs or better. That is the art.
