That’s my guess.  They will be long gone before I get back down there.  I will be there in the fall.

Dutch, did you get into them at Martins Flats?

If they are like they were last fall, there will be plenty still around.

From what I saw yesterday morning I’m sure that they will be.  I got a late start last fall and only got to go twice, not like when I used to camp at Dam Site for several weeks and fish for them every day.

If the weather works out I plan to go back down on Monday morning.  I have made some baits that may be a better offering.

One of the things I enjoy most about White bass is that they love relatively shallow flat areas, just like I do. 😊

Probably the biggest misconception about Whites is that they love WINDY areas.   I've been targeting Whites on the fly for a long time, and I can promise you that Whites don't care whether the wind is blowing or not.   All the wind does is makes it harder on the angler, it does not "position the baitfish"..... That's one of the biggest, most often repeated, lines of BS in the vocabulary of fishermen.

"It moves the plankton, and baitfish follow the plankton"🙄Oh BULL$#!T !

It's been a couple of years, but I have gotten into them by the shallow water buoys on Martin Flats, and those shallow points just to the south of them on the same side.

Anything with flash has done well for me, road runner, rooster tail, spoon, etc.

I think it's still a little early yet, I've had better luck in the afternoons towards August.

You just keep telling yourself that and don’t bother to fish where it’s windy.  Me I’ll take a good strong fall wind blowing from the same direction for three days and enjoy myself whether the food chain is there or not.  By the way the wind moves the algae.  The zooplankton, shad and shad eaters follow.
