Nice lady from KC caught this double on a fin in June 2019.

The post about advice not working well got me thinking.

Bill’s first cast with a wart on that bank Stone told us about, he caught a double on LM, both solid 3 pounders. We weighed both and won the derby

Tim Sainato and I had 3 doubles on a drop shot in the early 2000’s in a derby using tandem drop shot rigs.   We used to use 2 hooks all the time,  never do anymore.

There was a huge school of post spawn K’s off Sycamore point going into Campbell Point Marina.   Tim and I and I’ve told this story before had a 13 pound limit in under 10 minutes.

Also fishing the Heartland fish off on Grand the same year I had 2 doubles the same day on a spook.   All 4 keepers and we weighed 3 of them.

What’s some of your double stories and a picture if you have one?

Switching to  flyfishing @ 15-16 years ago, I don't fish with lures with multiple hooks or treble hooks.  But before that...doubles happened occasionally.  In fact, as a teenager, I was fishing with a floating/shallow diving Rapala stickbait that had 3 treble hooks on it, and caught 3 bass at once!  No picture of that...long time ago, WAY before cell phones.

Here's one with 2 bass on the same treble.

Topwaters like the Rebel Pop-R seem to get doubles more often than other lures or crankbaits in my experience.  But that may be because I didn't use crankbaits very often...

Years ago a buddy and me got into a school of surfacing fish in a small cove, they would come up and go down over and over. We spent at least an hour catching small bass after small bass on Spooks. Then I managed to catch two three pounders for a double, the only keepers we caught.

I had a few doubles on spooks years ago.  Most of mine have been on Bull on an Arig.

Catchin those whites on a multiple triple hooked bait is like trying to release a mad porcupine. Fun stuff.

That was my last double several weeks ago, couple of whites on a top water.  One was about 2 lbs., the other about 8 inches.  I really don't want to catch them, but sometimes they show up.

Used to fish double jigs for whites and it wasn't uncommon to hook one on each jig.  But this little story isn't about two fish at once it's about the same fish twice.  Wade fishing a small creek with a buddy, throwing small rapalas.  He made a cast to an under cut bank as we went upstream, hooked a decent smallmouth who broke him off.  We fished on up and then back downstream, I got to the same under cut bank first made the same cast he did and pow had a decent little smallie.  In his gullet was a crawfish which I removed and behind that was my buddies little rapala, that fish was hungry, maybe an hour at most between catches.

Have occasionally caught two fish on a crankbait and yeah its a circus to get them unhooked.
