Holding a spinning rod

I was doing some reading on another site and this was one of the topics.  I had never given it any thought.  The way people hold them was all over the place so I thought I might do a little survey here.

For those of you who ever fish with a spinning setup, how do you place your fingers in relation to the reel?

It is so automatic that I have to think about it.  I believe that I grip the rod so that the reel seat is between my middle and ring finger.

That's typically how I hold mine. If it is a bigger rod like shore or boat rod  I will hold it with my entire hand in front of the reel.

Between index and middle finger.  Unless it’s between my middle finger and ring finger or ring finger and pinky finger or my whole hand in front or behind the reel seat😁

I see that you strive for consistency 😉.

My hand position is more about whether I can cast with one or need both hands.

Hold at the very bottom of the rod with the spinning reel on top of the rod and crank the reel handle backwards.  Is there any other way?

with it between my index and middle finger. However, I do prefer to crank with my right hand, the same as my baitcasters.  I get made fun of for that.

Mine is how many casts I make with a jerker before I switch the position due to soreness...😀

That's how I do it.  Leaves the index finger free to pick up the line while maintaining a secure grip on the rod.
