While we are discussing glasses......I can't seem to find a pair of very light amber tinted lenses.    I need a pair for low light situations.

Kinda like "night driving glasses" but polorized.

I've got a pair of Amber Costa's that I like for cloudy days.  Polarized glass lenses.  Not cheap but you can sure see fish with them.  And not squint.

I was having the same problem with not being able to focus on the small things the last couple of years. Last year during my annual eye exam I complained to the doc about it and he told me that was as sharp as he could correct my vision because I had been getting cataracts over the last couple of years. Went and had the cataract surgery and Lasik at the same time. I have had no problems and vision is better than 20-20 now. Only thing is some time the light will make the lens show in my eye and have been ask " What is wrong with your eyes". No complaints. Just do your research on what doctor does it for you.

I had astigmatism and wore no line trifocals and sometimes contacts.  Hated them all.  Contacts were not comfortable and even with the flexible frame good lenses glasses I still had issues with comfort and worst of all - sweat dripping on the glasses from April through October anytime I did anything physical.  Lasik now maybe 14 or 15 years ago was the best thing I ever did for vision.  Wear readers for close work but at distance I've still got better than 20-20 vision.  No glare/flares night driving and shooting is just fine with no glasses.  I have a pair of dark gray Maui Jim's and a pair of amber Costa's.  Perfect for driving and fishing.

Phil, if you're a lasik candidate, in the long run it will save you a lot of money.  And the surgery is nothing.  Take a valium, lay down for about ten minutes total, put up with one day of sore eyes and then after that reap the rewards.

The Yum glasses at walmart for less than $5 are my go to. I like them because the amber is light enough i can have them on early morning while driving the boat and still see

I had them evaluate my eyes about 8 years ago.  Told me my "walls" were too thin.  It's been long enough, though, and that they may have an answer for that, unless it's a rare thing.  I need to go back and see.

So far, at age 69, my eyes still give me no problems.  For a while, like about 6 months, I was having a weird thing happen where if I concentrated on close-up work for too long, the center of my vision blurred.  Worried and worried about it until finally going to the doctor, got a thorough checkup, and was told it was simply due to eye fatigue.  Got new glasses, transition trifocals for all my art work, and problem went away.

My wife got Lasiks 21 years ago, and is still happy with it.  She was more near-sighted, but had less astigmatism, than I do.  I thought about it after she was so pleased with hers, but was worried about two things at the time...first, I was still able to take off my glasses and do really closeup, finely detailed work with no glasses as long as my eyes were within a foot of the work, and I was afraid that the Lasiks would affect that, as at the time that was completely the kind of work I was doing.  Second, I was still doing a lot of night fishing at the time, and was worried that without glasses, I was unprotected from Jitterbugs flying back in my face!

My other vision/glasses issue was wearing prescription safety goggles while playing basketball.  I have scars on my face from having balls and elbows hit my glasses while playing (one time the same guy put me and another player in the emergency room the same night with his elbows).  I tried a pair of prescription goggles, and had terrible depth perception (not good for your shooting percentage) because they were wrap around and the lenses were curved too much.  Got a pair with flatter lenses and it was a lot better.

Another astigmatism sufferer here. Was told ~15 years ago that contacts were not an option, that may have changed.

I've been ordering glass from Zenni for several years now, and generally like them. Biggest problem is buying them without being able to try them on.

My job is hard on lenses. Doesn't take long for a spark or welding BB to get behind the lenses somehow and leave a mark. I prefer poly lenses because of the safety aspect.

I was told that lasik is best done later in life, my vision is still getting worse at 28, I've had two prescription changes and am due for another. I am near sighted and have a lot of trouble reading road signs and stuff. I'm totally on board with it though, since I hate wearing glasses.

I had cataracts and opted for  toric lenses to correct my astigmatism.  They were an additional grand per eye but I haven’t had to buy those $500 per pair per year glasses in 11 years so I am way ahead.
