FishnDave Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 I have a Fishpond Nomad mid-length net. Never liked carrying a net, until I got this one. Worth every penny. Managed to fit fish up to 36.5" in it so far, and its not one of their bigger nets. Rising nets seem popular, I haven't checked out their prices. I used to have a Measure Net with the extendable handle and rubber bag, it worked fine, and the price is good. Johnsfolly 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 My problem is, I can never find a net big enough 😁 laker67 and Foghorn 2
Johnsfolly Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 I will have to check my net. Been so long that I purchsed it that I no longer remember who made it. It's a short handled tear drop shape with a deep soft rubber net. Never had issue with landing larger browns and rainbows with it while wade fishing. FishnDave, Ham and JestersHK 3

I thought about the Nomad mid-length......but its hoop is not that much bigger than my net today 2-3" both ways. However I think the net itself is 3" deeper and built a little different from a volume perspective so maybe some benefit. I really like the mid-length boat net just wish the handle was a touch shorter. Here is what I am using now, a more than serviceable net for 95% of my fishing except the last 2 or 3 big fish I've caught have a tendency to flip out fairly easily since half of them are out of the net to begin with. snagged in outlet 3 1
Foghorn Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Had a Brodin steelhead that I used to carry a lot until someone stole it out of my car in the Montauk parking lot. My bad for leaving the door unlocked. Had it set up with the magnets and a surgical tubing so they cut the tubing and took the net with the magnet part on the net. Left me with the other half of the magnet attached to my vest. Ordered a new one and unknowingly the Mrs. ordered me a second one. That was early 2000's and don't think they are available anymore. No bigger fish than I've been catching, it's pretty much overkill anyway. nomolites and snagged in outlet 3 2

I may have solved your problem...at NO COST TO YOU! Can't beat that, right? Ok, here's what you do: You don't buy a new net...you just take along a guy with a bigger net that can net your big ones FOR YOU! Boom. And I'll even do one better...If you don't know anyone with a bigger net...I'll give you the number of a guy with a slightly bigger net. I just happen to have his cell number memorized.... 😁 Johnsfolly and gotmuddy 2

I do know that he was gifted a large landing net that he refurbished. He still gets on here every so often when he is not chasing sea monsters. He still may be willing to caddy with that large net if there are some big browns available at night😅 JestersHK and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Devan S. Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 Thanks guys....ya'll are more than welcome to come down. Only problem is its another hour+ past Taney. Honestly I enjoy fishing the red-headed step uncle-brother of the white river tailwaters but if the White or Taney were closer to me I'd avoid Beaver outside a couple months of the year in the spring. snagged in outlet 3 1

As you know it's a great deal that you have a true tailwater system nearby. Most of the lakes/ponds within an hour to 90 mins of us have simple spillways. They are now dumping stockers in those areas so we have some trout to fish. There are few permanent waters holding trout close by (within 2 to 4 hour drive) and even those pale in comparison to the ones that I have fished in the White River system. Though we do have some wild brook trout waters within 4 hours of us. Makes for a long day, it's a difficult fishery, but can be worth it if successful. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

LOL I have the same basspro net as John, its deep and has held up well to lots of abuse and lots of jerk bait and hooks. I do still have my big boy net that Duane gifted me. I do still wear both bets when I fish at night. I just have two magnets setup and run the smaller "butterfly" net on top which can be a pain, but that is the price for chasing sea monsters. If I'm fishing with friends we usually just opt one person as the big boy net holder and they are johnny on the spot if anyone hooks a donkey. I will say a couple knuckleheads on the white took my big net out and say its now cursed down there on that water system. I claim operator error Johnsfolly and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
