It has been announced tonight that Aaron Marten has passed on to be with our eternal Father in heaven tonight.  His wife posted about an hour ago that his terrible battle with brain cancer ended this evening. Please keep his family in your prayers along with the other brother we lost this week.  Definitely have a heavy heart after this week.

Wow 😢  Blink, just like that?

So that's how the eternal heavenly father rolls, hu?

darn! 😔

Even for someone that calls himself an atheist, that’s a pretty tacky thing to say after an announcement of a death.

Sorry you feel that way, Phil.

What's tacky, to me, is to coverup sadness and grief with baloney spiritual nonsense.    It hurts and offends me worse than political rants hurt you, Terrierman, and quillback.

You've never been hurt, looked to the sky and asked WHY?       If the answer is "yes" then you should understand.

If you're not a fan of brain cancer then you shouldn't be a fan of the one who created it, or the one that could have prevented it.    If the heavenly father wanted Aaron then POOF, take him, and spare his loved ones all the pain, cost, and grief.

One of my best friends in this world, Vince, died of brain cancer at the age of 53.  He was sick for 15 months.  It was tough for us, especially his family, to see him waste away, but the whole time, he, his wife, his 3 kids or myself (and many friends) never gave up hope in his healing, either by medicine or a miracle.

Through the process, there was pain, hurting and questions, but we never lost our trust in God to glorify Himself through Vince's life, even his sickness and death.  There were so many glorious moments up till the end.  And after, we all bask in Vince's memory, how he laughed and loved.  We laughed, loved, hugged and supported each other, and continue to do so.  And we thanked God He gave us Vince for 53 years.

This isn't a story about cancer and tragedy.  This is a story about life.

That's definitely a more healthy/happy way to look at it.  👍   As long as you're capable of blocking out and ignoring the parts that hurt.

I think that's exactly how people stay longer than they should in abusive relationships.

Wrench I would rather be me, Phil or many other on here that believe in GOD and Jesus Christ and in the end be totally wrong, than you and in the end be wrong. I have read through the bible many time and have never seen where it says GOD created brain cancer. I do believe he can heal anyone of anything, at his choice, and there are many people who have been told there is no hope and some how they are cured and the doctors don't have an answer. But each person get to decide what they choose to believe and should not condemn or belittle others for their faith or lack of it.

Gentlemen, my goal of this post tonight was to honor the passing of a modern legend in the sport of bass fishing and a great family man.  All I ask is to please keep it to talking about his legacy.  I am a man of faith, however, my intention was not to enter into a discussion on the topic of spirituality.  My goal was to discuss Aaron and bring his passing to the attention of all of my friends and fellow fishermen. If my comments touched off a touchy topic, I am humbly sorry and will request the post to be removed if necessary.

I never had the honor of meeting Aaron.  Anyone on the forum have a “personal” Aaron Marten story?
